Devotion Pally

So after looking through both paths...and spending way more time than I probably should have been trying to decide which I wanted I think I'm set on Devotion. The heals just seem to fit a "pally" way of life. Also it seems protection has more taunt options (And shields) it doesn't mean that a devote can't tank.

So my question would be what Encounters/passives do you think would serve best for group content? Kinda leaning towards Bane/Vow/Cleansing Touch...That last slot I'm pretty much on the fence about, it seems great in a pvp stand point for the cleanse but I'm not sure if Circle of power, or Bane would serve better. Divine touch, or Burning light is also an option.

Given Bane and Vow seem very boss oriented skills and would probably use different ones for trash mobs. Maybe wraith/ Burning light/ Divine Touch till boss rooms.

Class Feats I was thinking, Aura of courage (Can't go wrong with extra dmg) and aura of life, swapping courage out for aura of life for bosses

Dailies Lay on hands/Healing font

Any suggestions?

Ha part of me though still leans towards protect since it seems like the more selfish path. Can focus on pissing mobs off and dmg instead of who needs healing. Ah the life of the healer where everything is your fault, but I digress!

Bond of Virtue is an absolute must encounter for healing paladins. Not only buffs your healing in a wide area but allows to heal a bunch of allies at once through the chaining heals.

Bane will also be a must for bosses for both the defense and attack debuffs.

For enemies/bosses with nasty CC, Cleansing Touch will also be important for the CC cancel.

For mobs, if Cure Wounds and Oath Strike are enough with Bond to keep everyone healed then you can throw on Burning Light and Templar's Wrath for damage and CC support.

Pretty much what they said above. The *must have* Encounter power that ALL Devotion Pallys should equip in group content is Bond of Virtue. It's incredibly strong ... and passive in that you just turn it on and leave it on (although it does get knocked off if you get controlled, so keep an eye on that).

I am curious about what folks are using as a style for healing - are you trying to get up there in the mix, healing while meleeing to maximize stuff like oath strike? Or standing back and mainly forgoing any DPS at all to focus on healing from a distance?

I ask because my first attempts at dungeon healing went extremely poorly; there is nothing levelling up that prepares you for the pain and massive damage spikes of the first T1 dungeons. I tried the melee route, and I am thinking that is not the best way, especially if you have the gear most pallies have when they are going to be hitting their first real dungeons (blues and a few greens from the elemental evil zones).

I am using bond of virtue with cleansing touch and vow of enmity in pvp (i use this also in pve)
I swap vow if there are no tricksters around for Relentless Avenger.
for aura's i always use Aura of Divinity and i swap Aura of Life,Aura of Restoration depending on the situation pvp or pve.
