I'm still low level as a cleric, but i seem to get very good healing mileage out of triple spamming searing light every time i get full radiance, this also gives me great damage numbers for faster kills. Most guides i see have minimum points put in this power. Does the effectiveness of this strategy taper off later on? All the tool tips seem to indicate that as long as i can put up any kind of damage numbers and fill my radiance bar fast that it puts out great healing. Mostly I'm asking if its worthwhile to get it to 3 and keep it on my bar and what to replace it with and when. At the moment it is my major workhorse bot in and out of party.
It is rather useful if you line yourself up properly, in divine mode it heals 100% of damage dealt, it will do full damage to all mobs in a line, and % of mobs around those, the more mobs the tank has on him = the more heal he gets. I use it almost to main heal, with healing word as a spot heal, and Bastion of Health. I don't have Astral Shield yet though, and it will be hard to choose between this and searing light over healing word, or bastion.
I've been thinking about this too. I'm level 23 and have been experimenting with different rotations and loadouts. Up till now I've been managing to kill mobs and mini-bosses with Astral Seal / LoF spam to build up divinity, then 3x COBL in Divine mode, followed by Empowered DL. I keep Sun Burst spare in case I get overwhelmed by adds in mini-boss fights to give me a breather.
However I met my match last night against a mini-boss in Blackdagger. Died a couple of times before I worked out how to kill him. I was thinking as I ran back a couple of times whether I needed some healing in my rotation.
I think the 'targets in a line' is confusing for Searling Light. Ignore than mechanic. It must be **** near impossible to get all mobs to line up for you. This is still a good single target damage ability, that also generates AoE (for dealing with those adds) and AoE healing (for you and your companion).
I'm certainly going to try this soon and swap out Daunting Light or Sun Burst for Searing Light, particularly on mini-bosses and in groups.
60 righteous spec dc here. I am currently using searing light in add heavy situations and it seems great. Heals, applies my debuffs over many mobs and can rack up huge damage numbers. It certainly has its place but is not a never leave your bar kind of skill. I would recommend 3/3 in it.
YES!! Casting it in divine mode(sorry if this has already been said) will heal the party 15' around the target(100% of the damage you cause), damage the target and cause damage to enemies around the target. Plus once empowered, you get better armor penetration(that stacks) and allows for bigger heals. You just need to make sure you are setup for a high chance on critical hits. The damage is quite low otherwise, it's the high crits that will allow you to heal(and damage)for massive amounts.
Past I would say no but now it's very vible but need to becareful. If high crit and getting good shots you we'll pull a lot of aggro. A good tank and owl pet would help with this but its vible move.
