1 suggestion for Cryptic management

My suggestion for Cryptic management: guys, your current dev team is not able to deal with Neverwinter. Every mod, every single patch is full of bugs, exploits, mods are widely criticized by the community. You should finish the process you started few weeks ago by saying "goodbye" to 9 people from dev team. You should say "bye" to all of them. Hire new, professional coders, also some people that actually know the world of D&D. Right now every patch is shooting this game right in its knee. I don't want Neverwinter to die with empty servers because of extremely unprofessional devs.

And have this new team work on a completely "in house" and proprietary engine without training? Or are you content to go without ANY bug fixes or content for potentially months as the new team gets familiar with the engine and toolsets?

Typical monkey gamer totally oblivious to how programming works.

@Sockmunkey: that's what training is for. Next mod should be done by a new team, current one is not able to provide us with quality products. And personally I don't think new team would make worse errors than current one.

Forum poll: almost 80% users hates new mod. No further comment needed.

Ok, and who will give this training? You just fired all the people who know the engine. And how long will this training take? Who will work on the game during this time? How will things get fixed during this time? Do you honestly feel people will be content to wait?

yes i honestly do. everyone would see it as at least something is happening. besides how coding works and how people who work on these type of things work they went to college there not completely stupid its not like there being taught how to complete code something. there no stranger to this its their job.

@Sockmunkey: right now we have 2 choices:

    1. Situation stays as it is: dev team isn't changed, we receive worse and worse mods and patches, people keep flowing away from the game. Result? Publisher decides to take off the game.

    2. New dev team, new chance that something will change for better. People demand changes, what you can observe in every discussion here and in game. Tolerance for people creating such "patches" has ended.

It's more the fault of the fresh-out-of-college "game designer" and the PWE management directives.

I'd take quite the opposite approach...

...fire the management - apart from the guy who instigated the PWE takeover. That one should be tarred and feathered - and tossed to the remaining 50 fans at the next US- or worldwide D&D fan con.

IMHO the Devs have shown what they can and what to do in the basic game, and that's, while far from what you'd call intellectually challenging, still pleasant enough as MMOs go.

Since they are working under the 4-monthly-module pressure, only HAMSTER came out of that.

Now ask yourself: Is it more probable that release schedule is the devs' idea - or rather that of the management...

While it is no secret that I enjoyed the game far more before mod 6, I think the OP is being a bit extreme in firing everyone. That said, I've been in since 2013 and the game has diverted further and further from AD&D. I think as the game claims to be a D&D product the devs should all be adept with at least one of the AD&D editions. AD&D has been around for over 30 years (not counting the earlier Greyhawk), it has been played, for over 3 decades and stood the test of time well. The characters are all relevant and balanced for the game, the monsters, are challenging yet not over whelming for characters of their level, and the amount of lore and game scenarios is staggering . Simply converting the same balance and stats into a coded game would be ideal, rather than trying to re invent the wheel and not getting it as round.

    LMAO......but, very true.
In some ways I do feel sorry for the dev's, as like a lot of companies they are pushed to get a product out on time, so as long as there shareholders are OK, and they all get a bite of the cake it does not matter what we think anymore.
We leave and new peeps will come along to spend money in there bottomless pot.

The D&D side of this game is changing which is a hell of a shame.
I can remember playing D&D forgotten realms, Icewind Dale, and Baldurs gate, with TRUE chaos classes, but that seems to have gone from the game, and lets face it who does not like playing the part of the bad guy now and again??.
As for MOD 6 to quote a post I read on here earlier there are now 80% of players who do not like it.
You know, as well, as i do they wont go back to mode 5, although we would like to see it.

I also feel for the casual gamer's on here who try and spend a couple of hours or whatever a day, so they can get there toon lvled, now it's gonna be even tougher for them, especially in dungeons when 1 hit kills.
After all, so many of us have busy life styles, what will they do ??, leave no doubt, or just play on a W/E, if they dont have to take the wife, and kids shopping :), so it seems to me the big C will start to lose customer's.
I hope I am wrong, as I love this game like a lot of you.

I have to disagree with the post. The Devs are only following instructions from the managers. It was just a few weeks ago that half the Development team was laid off and that means one thing......falling revenue. As profits go down, due to mismanagement, more people are fired and content quality goes down as well. It's a viscious cycle.
It's BUGS bunny i tell you.

Closing this down as it's just dev bashing. Also, no one "instigated" the PWE "takeover"--Cryptic Studios was purchased from Atari by PWE in 2011 long before NW was even on the drawing board.
