Security.... or the lack of? Whats up with that?

Hello people, i am sorry that i will introduce myself in that manner but i have an issue and some of you may help me with it. Tonight i played Neverwinter for the first time. I knew i didn't had much time but i just wanted to create my character, do one quest or 2... and then i was off.
As i got into the game, it gave me a code to link my account.. I didn't had a paper and pen, so i made a stupid terrible mistake, i made a screenshot out of the code. I wanted to go use it upstair on my computer but i forgot about it. 30 mins ago i think about this once mor and as i find the screenshot, i realize the code has been used.... or is not valid(thats what it says). Now i am hoping it just simply "expired"
But the problem is... there was ZERO security when creating this account. I used my email, but they never asked me to go in my mail and confirm the account, so basically anybody could use my email to make an account here.
Then i launched the game and it gave me a new code... wich i used to link... Alright... so i did, i just enter the code and thats it???? It says in my account xbox is linked but thats it...
No asking for my live login(as the bungie website did back then, or as gearsofwar.com does) , basically i fear anybody can have take the code they gave me and use it to link MY xbox account to his arc account. But then the game wouldn't had let me get a new code right?
I just can't help but think there is a MAJOR lack of security in this... If i knew i woul had just ignore this totally. Not like i cared that much about the companion...
Anybody would be kind enough to assure me all is fine? And if my account is linked, then why if i load the game it ask again to link it? I did this time directly with the Xbox One, realize you could do that and when trying to enter my arc logging, it said it was already linked or something.
Anyway all i hope is that nobody else could enter my xbox account...

I have not tried the game too much yet, im busy in montreal today, but as i get back home ill get into it and what i seen so far looks fun, i have no problem putting some money in it since they gave it to me for free...
