Hey guys, so I'm rather new to the game (only got to 20 when the game first launched before stopped playing) and I've been really torn between CW, SW, and DC for PvP.
I like playing classes that do more than just.. Damage. I'd like to offer group support in some way, either through (de)buffs/heals or a heavy amount of control, but I'm not sure what options are out there for me to be effective with. Since I'm knew, I'd like to work with a build template of sorts to understand the meta and game/stat mechanics before I start experimenting on my own, so I was wondering if anyone here could point me to a guide/build for a leveling player still trying to figure things out.
(Please note that I'd prefer a build that could be atleast somewhat efficient in PvE while still being mainly PvP-focused.)
So my questions are this:
* Is Spellstorm Renegade the only viable option for CW? Is there no pvp diversity for the class? (Was hoping to go with Master of Flame, but I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on it. Still willing to try it, but I don't want to be a detriment to my team)
* What stats should I look into while leveling? I assumed I should roll 16 Int 12 Cha 16 Wis (going with a High Elf btw)
* What stats should I be looking at for gear?
* Any protips/advice for being effective in PvP? Things I should always remember and look out for? Where should I focus my attention?
Thanks again!

Nop Oppressor is really good to .
But renegade is better .
Rate it from 1-10 i think renegade is around 9 and oppressor is around 8 .
My Renegade build : Start stats int16 wiz12 cha16 str10 con10 dex10
+1 to int and cha on all lvl.
Any race with base +2 int and cha is a good choice.
Well, on stat rolls I do fully agree with schweifer, Int & Cha aare most important ones, Wis can be left behind.
On feats I do partially agree with schweifer. Renegade tree looks good, but for PvPers I'd suggest "Severe Reaction" in Oppressor tree.
In heroic feats I'm not quite sure why you choose "Prestidigitation" instead of maxing "Blighting Power" or " Learned Spellcaster" ?
Furthermore I would prefer to put points into "Controlling Action" instead of "Wizards Wrath" for PvP.
Action point gain is always useful for spamming Oppressive Force and Ice Knife! Both awesome dailies which saved my *** hundred times!
Prestidigitation give you 2% of your own stat to so more hp power rec def deflect etc.....
So more powerfull you are more powerfull bonus you will get 19-21 k CW can get some nice dps boost from Prestidigitation.
And this will be even more powerfull heroic feat in mod6.
Serv reaction is cool i know, but this build is around destroy your enemys before they even have a chance to reach y .
Furthermore I would prefer to put points into "Controlling Action" instead of "Wizards Wrath" for PvP.
Controlling Action is trash. For 5 feat points, it grants 10% more AP from the control encounter itself, not 10% of your total AP bar. So if an encounter normally grants 2% AP, then with Controlling Action, it would grant 2.2% AP instead. Not worth the 5 points.
In addition, controlling powers don't normally grant a lot of AP to begin with, so it's even trashier.
We're still talking about PvP here, schweifer? 13-14k power seems to me a bit of too much. While it is normal on 20k HP PvE CWs, not on 40k+HP PvP CWs.
Additionally in mod6 stat curves will change and MOST stats will have 400 points = 1% relationship!
But we're talking about personal preferences, I prefer Learned Spellcaster and Blighting Power! Was always doing fine with them.
Well you can have 11-12 k power for pvp =1,44 dmg just from 1 stat .
But Prestidigitation 2% bonus effect all your stat .
In mod 6 i reached 24k power with my CW so i got 480 power = 1,2 % dmg boost (free rank 10 enchant).
Now take a look on "Severe Reaction" its really cool feat .
But aganst ?
TR ? nope you cannot push away df
CW? nope all powers are ranged
DC ?same as above
HR ?same as above
SW? same as above
GF ? lung /bull /doom not effective aganst those powers
GWF ? yepp aganst GWF its OP but only aganst him
While I definitely intend on trying the previously linked builds, I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about what separates Spellstorm from Oppressor from Flame playstyle-wise?
I know flame is focused mostly on DoT and teamwide buffs, Spellstorm seems to be straight up damage, Oppressor I'd assume is control-focused (which is the playstyle i enjoy the most) but I read that there is too much CC immunity in PvP to make it viable, and that Flame takes too long to do damage?
Does anyone know of any links or anyone I can speak to about these other builds? I'm really not a fan of being "just another" CW with the same build as everyone else (which would actually put me at a disadvantage since other PvPers would know how to beat the build better than I do).
2 points in Learned Spellcaster will give a 2.4% increase in damage (if you have 30 INT).
That's much more significant than what you'll get out of 2 points in Prestidigitation. As you pointed out, even at 24,000 power you'll only get 1/2 the damage boost. And you'll never actually have 24k power in PvP since you'll need so much more defensive stats.
And those defensive stats don't get much help either. Someone with 6k defense (theoretically) will only go from 15% DR to 15.3% DR - which is negligible. Especially since DR gets ignored by your opponents Armor Penetration anyway.
The shift from existing stat curves (where 167 power = 1% increase in damage) to new stat curves (400 power = 1% increase) is far more detrimental than the increase in total stats on new gear is beneficial. As such, Prestidigitation is will be worse in Mod 6 than it is currently on Live. The net result of both changes is a nerf.

As i say before pvp isnt abaut 1 vs 1 its about 5 vs 5 so
Lets see personal dps increase by 2.4% vs 5 ppl 1% also Prestidigitation increase recovery crit arp also increase dps but lets talk about only power so 5ppl got 1.2% more dps boost from power = 6% pt dps boost
Isnt this a better option ?
The key to victory is to win not to shine alone in a lose .
Also this build will help y a lot in pve too.
Also yep i will not have 24k power in pvp but i will have 20k so its still 5 % dps boost to my pt.
But if you want personal score then chose int boost .
And take those ME ME ME CWs advice.
Just saying personal score will not lead y to victory this game not single player game .
NWO is Massively Multiplayer Online game where you dont play alone
The flaw as i told y before oppressor have hard time to kill GF and GWF .
PS:In pve not even 1 million controllable mobs can kill y.
Also i think MoF only shine in pve in super long runs . Nothing in MoF can beat high graded CWs Storm spell proc .
Also i think MoF only shine in pve in super long runs . Nothing in MoF can beat high graded CWs Storm spell proc .
This gets said around here a lot, and it's not true. There's nothing in the MoF build that makes it do more damage the longer the fight does.
Damage per second is always damage per second. The length of the fight (assuming it's more than a few seconds) doesn't impact that much. Smolder does X Damage per Second. First tick, last tick...doesn't matter. If Smolder had some sort of mechanic where it did increasing damage the longer it was on a target, then yes. But as it stands right now...wait? Holy cow...
That might ACTUALLY be a great idea...Every tick of smolder/rimfire increases the damage of the smolder/rimfire by 5%. THEN you would get into some serious DPS over longer fights. It would also give Oppressor MoF builds some substantial improvement to DPS potentially...Next balance pass on the CW I'm going to put that idea on the table.

Matter of playstyle i like to fool my enemys with perfect timing teleports .
"CW math experts"
On old content mybe the had rigth but now you can get 13-14 k power on cW = 260 -280 power and this is just 1 stat = its around 1,6% dmg boost .
More stat you have more better will be Prestidigitation .
+it also help your team mates (pvp is not 1vs1)
Thanks for the info. Oppressor works? I read elsewhere that it was completely unviable and shouldn't be considered at all.
It works to but not the best .
Good agans DC -HR - TR -SW- CW(but not soo good aganst GWF&GF)
Maybe in mod 6
