Is there any way to stop the game's annoying habit of redirecting your quest line while you still have unfinished quests in an area. For example, you have accepted three Sharandar quests, just completed one and the sparkle is now leading you to a travel port instead of your next quest. Yeah, you can change it back, but I keep heading the wrong way when afield, until I notice it's taking me away from the rest of the quests. Oh, and DEVS, please, not everyone wants those lockboxes cluttering up thier inventory, make pickup non-auto!
Open your Journal - untick the checkbox that says "Force Visible" there - it will hide that particular quest until it is the only one left. In zones like Sharandar, where you have three or four simultaneous quests, it works well because once you complete the three and one of the "return to" quest closers takes you back to the area where all the quest-givers are assembled.
I'm not saying this is the fix, just saying this is a work-around that works for me.
I agree. The quest order in the journal as well as the panel should be listed from new to old by default. It does so quite often, but often goes wrong when a quest's sub-condition (like when you killed enough goblins and are sent back to the questgiver) is met. The renewed quest often takes over the trail.
The quests in the journal constantly reorder themselves to put the closest quest goal to you at the top. So if it happens that you are closer to the quest givers than to the nearest goal of any other quest then the default will go to the "turn in" goals.
If you know a zone really well and ignore that pixie trail and just head toward the next goal you will see the journal updates to put that quest back at the top and the goal changes to whatever that quest requires. I actually like that it works this way, though having a user-selectable option would be nice. I would expect them to implement as soon as possible, which based on the request to reorder character selection screen, could be quite a while so I'll not hold my breath on that.
Edit to add: I don't *know* this is how it works, but it sure appears to work this way ever since... I'm not sure - since I kind of noticed it over the last six months or so.
