Can someone please explain why I received the LongBow of the Royal Guard as a reward for beating Tiamat? Shouldn't zone rewards be from the campaign one just played in? It's bad enough that I have been at 100% completion of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign for months and still have not had a Dragon Gem drop for the artifact weapon nor the Haarl's Treatise on Dragonkind tome to get my 4th boon. To have rewards not relevant to the campaign is somewhat upsetting. The grind gets tiresome if it doesn't provide what is needed to advance.:(
Take the extra time to do the job right and it will never come back to bite you in the A**
for a number of reasons, having this gear drop from tiamat and heroic encounters was a bad move. only thing I can say is sell that bow or salvage it, whatever gets you more ad, and use that ad to get your dragon gems for the artifact weapon.
actually, don't even get the artifact weapon, since a better one is on its way.
I've so far, been terribly underwhelmed about the drops from the Tiamat chest. It has always either been stuff I have already or downgrades to my current gear. I think I picked up 1 or 2 pieces of draconic gear just to see what it was like.
The good thing is you can always decline the chest and save your key if there is something in there you don't want or need.
Well, you could have spent the 40-50k AD to get a Dragon Gem - over "a few months" you should have been able to get that amount of AD together.
Additionally, for 100 Sigils + 100 Secrets + 100 Coins (+5 gold, and IIRC, AD), you can buy Haarl's book. It's the same price for Breyer's book, too (needed for 5th boon).
As for the gear, with the level increase coming, and new gear and stat curves on the way, I'm not seeing a problem with it. People who have incurred the wrath of the RNG (*raises hand*) get to pick up T2 gear on the cheap, it salvages well (and a few pieces still sell well), and ups the overall power level of those running tiamat. Not seeing how this is bad.

LOL yeah my problem is I used to hoard my AD thinking "It will drop soon, It has to!" So to break away from that I give myself X amount of days to farm for something, if it doesn't drop by then I just buy it.

I agree that the base game dungeon's gear should not be awarded for beating Tiamat, especially not drops from EDV Why? because it allows players who aren't skilled enough to beat epic dread vault to "fake" the completion of epic dread vault through titles gained from complete gear sets, without having to spend AD in the process
As opposed to people who bought the item from the AH with AD? Which has been done since launch? Are those people "faking" it in a better or worse fashion than people who get the item from Tiamat?
As it is - what's the big deal? In one week, it's obsolete gear, and we're all back on the same gear treadmill.
I may also want to point out that Haarl's Treatise does NOT drop from Tiamat. Rather, it drops from the Shores of Tuern skirmish. Dragon Gems drop from SoT or Lair of Lostmauth.

...in a way this random-T1/2/whatever-dropping even makes sense, storyline-wise: Remember she has bribed to materialize with stuff looted by the dragon cultists from all over the world...
