They already have great arena type map, Pitfight skirmish.

Yeah I reckon some of the smaller skirmish maps could double up as arena maps.

I have a feeling that if this 3v3 mode is passed it could become the one that the hardcore players will gravitate to and hopefully tied into the leaderboard while 5v5 and 10v10 will be for the casual players. That is what made WoW pvp is cool: arena and rated battlegrounds were for the hardcore pvp players while normal battlegrounds were for casual play. And it worked well. One did not simply stroll into RBGs or arena and pwn as a casual.

One could only hope that they make a legit difference, this game NEEDS to stop pitting brand new 60's against BIS PvP Premades...

Firstly, I feel REALLY bad when my SW is against lesser geared players.. Unfortunately, they just dont even have a chance, but the real problem is everytime I queue, I end up with nobs on my team, and BIS Players on the other team, my SW is good, but im not BIS good lol

Mind you, I can kill almost anything if I get the drop on it ^^

but once again, My statement stands, if they wanted to do something productive, it should have been the fixing of the matchmaking system, stop giving me multiple Low GS SW's and TR's and expect us to do anything worth a ****, and stop pitting that pitiful group against actual Premades.......

The devs' concern is that queue times will take even longer by splitting things up. What they don't seem to realise that in time it will actually bring more players to pvp because the teams will be more evenly matched in gear etc. Only the leaderboard manipulators and elitist jerks don't care about evenly contested match-ups. The rest of us very much want to see this happen. It will bring an element of fun back into pvp. More casuals will be willing to try their hand at pvp without being PWNED sideways.

Also I agree that for 3v3 to work well the maps have to be reduced drastically. The current 2 domination maps are far too big for this mode of pvp. In fact there is no point in using these maps as contesting nodes is irrelevant. Perhaps they are just testing the water to gauge the initial reaction before adding gladiator/pitfight style maps with a couple of obstacles for LoS etc.

We will see how they do the scoring, right now its 3 points per round with 1000 still being the goal.

I like they fact they are giving us something new and we cant blame them for using the maps that already exist. I agree the maps are not well suited for 3v3 however can you blame them?

Most fights will just end in the middle with the outside nodes being wasted (unless some team comes up with a cheese strategy somehow).

In the end I am just glad they gave us another option for pvp.

I think both 3v3 and 5v5 need to be "rated" while 10v10 remains unrated for ELO purposes.

Well I am REALLY hoping what they are doing with this "total gear level" or w.e its called is creating a "high water mark" where it records the highest 'score' you have with your total gear level, and then factoring THAT into the equation for PVP matchmaking.

Thus it would search for the closest ELO players to your ELO and then weed out anyone that has gear too far above or below yours. Thus creating a match that is both evenly placed ELO wise AND gear wise.

People that say you can have skill overcompensate for gear - while its true, your skill can only help so much against gear and there becomes a point that the gear will override your skill.

I'm also super stoked that they appear to be adding other options for pvp.

The problem with that is that no-one wants to run the same map over and over and over again (GG) if it is geared towards the casuals. Variety is the spice of life after all. Three maps for funz (5v5/10v10) and a couple more for rated pvp (3v3) is what I would suggest.

Yeah I agree they need to add new maps. As mentioned above the Skirmishes are VERY easy options for this. Also they could EASILY take the OW Dom Zones and turn those into 5v5 maps - or even another 10vs10 option.

The fact they are giving us another 3v3 option and making GG less zerg means you will see more premades in GG and hopefully this will bring back some fun to PVP. I know now that most of my time will be spent in a 3 man group qued for all 3 options.

Maybe the solution is to create TWO 5 man ques. Just like the 3 man que only appears in a party of 3. a special 5v5 premade que could appear in a party of 5.

Then you could make the NORMAL Que "Current Que" be a MAX of 3 players.

    What does this do?

It would actually create faster Que times since it allows players to be qued for multiple things at the same time.

Solo Q? GG + Domination QUE
    3 man Q? GG+3v3+Dom Q
    5 man Q? GG+Premade 5v5 Q

Without this, noone in a 3 man group (besides a few) will want to be Qued for the 5 man Dom because a 3 man pre versus a 5 man pre is very tough.

Also premades in general in domination are part of the issue, so it would alleviate that as well. All of this would create VERY fast Pops, atleast with all groups in GG. Ontop of that it allows most of the PVP population to play with the WORST risk being they go against a 3 man Party.

It would allow Solo Players to never go against a full premade.

It allows Premade 5 man teams to only face other premade 5 man teams (I would even suggest DISABLE ELO matching, and have it just find ANY other premade that is Qued - BUT! Still have it affect ELO ratings if you win).

Agreed. I have mentioned this on a number of occasions. Both maps are beautifully created (two of the best mini zones in the game IMO) BUT they just seem to be wasted content atm. Hell, if they turned them into 10v10 domination matches I'd probly never queue for 5v5 ever again.
