Tiamat Extreme Lag Record: Temptation SW End Feat Soul BondObservations:
1. Incidents of Lag specific to the player occur when s/he is Soul Bonded to a Temptation SW and life steals. The player experiencing the Soul Bond will lag even though other players around them do not, nor does the SW.
2. Soul Bonded procs multiple times from a single player's life steal. (or stores procs?)
3. Soul Bonded procs even after the player has left combat.
4. Soul Bonded procs after damage received even though the player and the SW do not use powers.
5. Soul Bonded will proc if Fey Touched gives HP and will proc multiple times.
6. Soul Bonded multiple procs and lag occur even though no DC is present using either Astral Seal or proccing Burning Guidance.
7. Soul Bonded procs off Regen.
8. Soul Bonded may be proccing from the heal of Sigil of the Devoted separately from the life steal of the Encounter.
9. Soul Bonded procs off Augmented Thayan Bastion.
10. Soul Bonded may be procing off Elven Tranquility.
11. Soul Bonded may be procing off Trample the Fallen's LS.
TBH, it's hard to draw an absolute correlation between the Tempt SW using Life Steal, to you also using Life Steal, to the proc of Soul Bonding. But in a 20 minute combat log, all of these things seemed to be happening over an over again. So, grain of salt and all that.
Soul Bonded seems to proc every time you gain HP from a non-cleric *something*,
not just from life steal.
Caveat: This report is not to suggest a cause to ALL lag in Tiamat, only to record an incident concerning lag experienced by myself and other players in one particular incident. I suspect that the lag not only requires a Temptation SW but also certain other environmental factors (though no other player's feats or powers per se).
This is my 3rd character that I am trying to get through Tiamat. I got my DPS DC through and my SS Thau CW through, and neither with as much lag as I have experienced with my GF.
(This is from a Fail Instance. We had the DPS, and tried to the bitter end, but .. lag.)
This is a record of the second time that I am sure I experienced lag linked to the proc of Soul Bond. Both have occurred this week, on the same character, and in instances where there were a low number of both Devoted Clerics and Control Wizards. Only the other time I was rushing through professions and had forgot to turn on ACT.
This ACT record was taken while I was on my GF Aristide, who is a Tactician Spec.
Lag Spike One: 2:09:08 Duration: 42 seconds immobility. First Cleric Defense Phase.
Lag Spike Two: 2:11:24 Duration: 9 seconds immobility. Black Tiamat Head.
There was one DC in the whole Instance, who did not have the feat Burning Guidance. The DC did not fight at Linu for the first Cleric Defense Phase, where the worst lag occurred. He was a Divine Oracle Righteous spec, and did freely tag things with Astral Seal. I was healed directly via Astral Seal only three times in the Instance, by Cleave strikes directly on the Black and Green Tiamat Heads. He and a CW rotated to Mid during the second Cleric Phase when I asked, and the lag became minimal.
I first noticed the particular lag spikes (little ones are like mini-stuns, large ones are glacial) when one hit me while I was not DPS-ing and moving between the Green and Black Summoner. It wasn't game breaking, I just had been waiting to experience it again. The Tempt SW in question was in combat with a mob en route to the Red Summoner and I was not yet out of combat between Green and Black. And we are Soul Bonded in ACT.
Soul Bond does continue to tic for a surprisingly long time. This is a screen shot of the in game Combat Log as I was trying to leave the Red Head and make it back to Linu for the Second Cleric Phase. Soul Bond procs continued even after I was out of combat, and while neither I nor the Temptation SW were using any Powers. It continued to proc when I took damage from Tiamat's Aura as we were running back to Linu. I was lagging bad enough I could not mount, though I could still move and cast Into the Fray.
Lag Spike One: 2:09:08 Duration: 42 seconds immobility. First Cleric Defense Phase.
The first of the two major incidents I'm going to detail began at 2:09:08. I was tanking Mobs at Linu and taking damage. The Tempt SW began chaining Soul Bonded on me starting at 2:09:00. The whole exchange is too long for screen shots, so I've typed it out as follows.
Aristide does not deal damage for 6 seconds previous and Tempt 4 seconds (dragon breath).
02:09:00 Aristide -- Shield -- Augmented Thayan Bastion
02:09:00 Tempt -- Soul Bonding -- HP
02:09:00 Tempt -- Soul Bonding -- HP

02:09:07 Tempt -- Soul Bonding -- HP
02:09:07 Aristide -- Health Regen -- HP
02:09:07 Tempt -- Soul Bonding x 3 -- HP
02:09:08 Aristide -- Feytouched -- Health Steal
02:09:08 Tempt -- Soul Bonding x 8
02:09:08 Aristide -- Threatening Rush -- no HP gain.
The lag started as soon as we are Soul Bond in the log at Linu. As it started to get worse, I fired my Sigil of the Devoted so that I could get off Terrifying Impact on the mobs I was tanking. Did Soul Bond really store up procs from Trample the Fallen and dole them out 3 seconds later? Would the Soul Bond have continued to heal me if I had not been at max HP? The Tempt was still dealing damage at 02:09:08 but not using her own life steal. I was at full health and completely lagged out, full glacial slide. I could type into my Channel to my party that I was lagged and it came up on the screen after a small delay.
This is what the in game Combat Log looked like.
This is an ACT record of the Tempt's procs of Soul Bond between 02:09:00 and 02:09:08. Another player in my Channel, but not in my Party, gains procs from her Soul Bond during the 42 seconds I was frozen in the ACT, and reported multiple times of experiencing lag whenever he was being healed by the Tempt.
If you can see the chart a long the bottom, I have circled the spike peak where my 42 seconds of glacial lag occurred, and the second larger spike where I experienced 9 seconds of complete lag. The chart also shows the difference in proc when I was tanking the mobs at mid with no CW or DC, which was a much bloodier fight. You can see night and day, the effect of getting a CW and a DC to rotate into Mid during the second phase, and the smaller spikes where the zerg fought on the heads.

On to the second lag spike, which contrasts to the fight at Mid.
During the first time period, the Tempt also dealt damage (but did not seem to LS off the swing) 11 other times. While I was lagged for 42 seconds, the Cleric phase ended and people moved off to the Black Head. The glacial lag ended for me and I was able to use Lunging Strike to catch up fairly quickly. No lag.
The lag returned once I reached the Black Head. The dragon breath came down on us and things began to crawl to a halt. I went through a Cleave rotation from 02:11:17 to 02:11:19, and turned to deal with the Legion Devils that had charged into the zerg. It took me 5 seconds to close the distance to one Devil and at 02:11:24, knocked it off the platform with Bull Charge.
The Tempt was procced Soul Bond 61 times in that one second, which was on par with 66 procs of Astral Seal healing done by our one DC. But where the proc of Astral Seal directly correlated to the number of times a player directly damaged the Black Head in that one second (the highest proc was 8 for one person, while others didn't proc the heal at all), when Soul Bond procced it would proc twice for the same trigger. For my Bull Charged, I got a heal from life steal and then 2 procs of Soul Bond. Bull Charge proc'd Trample the Fallen, which in turn proc'd Soul Bond twice more. I had no other incoming or outcoming damage/healing for that one second than that Encounter use, the class feature proc, and the 4 procs of Soul Bond. I was then immobile for 9 seconds. I was unable to use Lunging Strike into the other Legion Devil until 02:11:33.
This is the ACT showing how long it was taking me to use At-Wills and Encounters on the Black Tiamat Head. Of course it will not show the use of Into the Fray, but it will show how long it took for me to use Bull Charge on one Legion Devil and then go to Lunging Strike-Bull Charge on the second.
To show the increased proc rate of Soul Bond on the Zerg, here is a fraction of the 61 procs in that one 02:11:24 second. Soul Bond was procing heavily in the second before but it was not producing that strange "ghost" effect.
I flipped back and forth between the logs for Astral Seal and the logs of each persons damage, and so no undue proc rates. One hit of damage, equaled one proc, though perhaps it procs off more things than people might expect, leading to one person receiving only one proc per second while another might receive as many as 8. I looked through many feats and encounter powers, but it was only with Soul Bond that I could see something strange going on.
I ran though first on a DC who while DPS had no problems healing. Standing in your own Divine Glow is like that. My CW has a great deal of life steal and a set bonus that gives more, plus there were simply more DCs and more CWs per instance than I have observed over the past week and a half. I do not think I encountered this particular type of lag while on my DC, and I honestly don't know any Temptation SW or have a great deal of experience running with them outside of a one-and-a-blue-moon LFG. Most SW I know are Fury builds. And who knows what the changes to regen and life steal might mean for this when Mod 6 comes around, or it will just bury the problem for a latter date. But I do think my observations of something not being kosher are correct.
YMMV.
