Remember the Good Days

Remember back in the early days when PvP and the game in general was so much more simple? I miss the times when the only thing you had to worry about was enchantments. I miss the days without ridiculous grinding, no overabundance of stats, no artifacts. The simplicity is what made the game fun. While TR may have been a bit too much, especially in the context of these matches before PvP "balancing" was implemented, I think it is safe to say that a build like this today would be much more welcomed as a standard for TRs compared to what we have progressed to today.

This is the video the once inspired me to come to this game. Now it is the video that gives me nostalgia of a fantastic game which was great for its simplicity. Hopefully it entertains you as much as it has me since the start of this game.

Very honestly speaking, sir, around 30% worth of RP that went into my current equipment was a result of actively spending money.

I myself do not view planned spending as something bad -- NW is not charity. They need to make money somewhere. Hence, with a spending plane that would roughly equate to monthly subscriptions, I usually spend between $45 ~ $50 around every three months. Even with this kind of planned spending it took a horribly long time to gather the rest 70% of RP required, and this was just for my TR character alone, and yet again I'm starting to fall behind the competency curve in terms of spec and gear.

Like I said, and repeat, I don't view spending money as a bad thing... but enough is enough IMO. But if it takes this kind of spending to get my one main class to the top of its game, what about the rest 3~4 classes I have? Frankly, unless I get a raise, or win the lottery for a certain amount of cash, there's no realistic chance at all. It's impossible. To get my CW, my HR, my DC even at mildly competent levels of maybe 17~18k GS, it will take another 12 months with literally thousands of dollars spent for a game.

I could become one of those "I have no life outside of a videogame" types, playing 10~12 hours a day for straight 6 months so I farm RP at abnormal rates, but even this is not enough to bring my other classes to competency in lv60 PvP. So, during all the times I had good fun enjoying a pretty fair PvP scene, once my alts reach lv60 they're all stuck in the roster doing nothing for months, because I barely have the time and money to be spent on my main class alone.. .AND NOW THEY !#*%^! TELL ME THE ENCHANTS WILL BE MOVING UP TO R12, THE LEVEL CAP GOING UP, AND NEW BIS GEAR COMING ALONG.

    ...

Yet I repeat myself again, spending money is not a bad thing, and the devs need to make profit somewhere....but this?

I'm not sure if its from the devs own decision, or some BS policy imposed on them by their masters at PW... but this...

All I can say is that they've forgotten what it means to genuinely care for a good, fun game. What it means to have a loyal, enthusiastic fan base that genuinely loves the game because it is fun. These RNG.. RP.. micro-transaction policies... is frankly becoming more and more intolerable up to the levels of being just plain disgusting and insufferable.

I've been faithfully following Cryptic's games as a paying customer for the past decade. The energy, the enthusiasm, the love for the game we used to have when CoH/CoX was around? I don't see any of that here. All that 'love' is simply gone, as they simply abuse the trust of their fans and treat them as just a herd of cash cows, trying to milk money out in every possible way, in every feature of the game that matters.

Let's be frank here. Enchants are basically paygates. You ain't never going to boost yourself in any really competitive levels unless you take out your wallet and upgrade those enchants... and not one, but all of them, and then the belt, and then the cloak, and then the main hand, and then the off hand..... and now, they're gonna move all that up to r12 and lv120.

Pure abuse. That's what they're doing to old-time fans like me. It's abuse.

And if I finally get disgusted and quit, they probably won't care, since they've got other suckers who would find NW fun, but then realize they can't enjoy any of that fun to its max potential unless they throw in thousands of dollars worth of money for just ONE character. And after a while, that sucker will finally reach the level he wants to be... and then a new mod/expansion, and then they'll increase the enchant/gear levels yet again, and then the sucker will also realize he's being treated like a cash cow.

Paying a monthly subscription would have been vastly superior to this F2P scam they're running. That's what I say.

I feel for you. I'd love more than anything to go back in time and play neverwinter again when it all started...

Yes, just a bit. Like they a little bit too much now :D

It was a good time though. Not only pvp, but pve was interesting and challenging as well.
