Ranged Trapper Build

Hi all,
Can anyone suggest a ranged Trapper build? My HR is currently Archer, but I like the idea of rooting targets which evidently is only truly available to trappers. However I would much rather stay as a ranged HR, I'm not a big fan of the melee encounters in general. This HR is probably going to end up being for PVE, but should be viable for PVP (not high-end, just the 15k-ish crowd). Thanks!

    Hi,

you will lose quiet a bit of dps if you chose to play a trapper in ranged stance only , if you want to keep a high dps as a trapper you have no choice but to switch stance after every rotation, and in PVP most of your burst comes from melee encounters. i may suggest you few things to play a ranged only trapper but dont expect it to come close to an archer dps.

    -Paragon : StormWarden
-at wills : rapid shot / split shot
-classe features : Aspect of the pac / StromStep action
-dailies : Disruptive / Seismic shot (ghost for pvp )
-encounters : RoA / Constricting / Split the sky

    Tips :
    - each time you use constricting double change stance to gain "master trapper"
    - Use disruptive each time Stromstep debuff is off
    - you can still use melee encounetrs fast just to reduce your ranged ones CD, like throw caution it will increase yout dps and reduce your cds by 15%
    - you may wanna put some points in archery tree depending on how you want to play

With Trapper you have to not only be constantly switching stances, but you also have to be landing your encounters. I suppose that you could use Constricting Arrow and Binding Arrow, and try to balance them out with Fox. CA, BA, and Hindering Shot would be a fair balance with emphasis on ranged CC and damage, but it sure would be hard to wade into a crowd to land Steel Breeze and Hindering Strike. And even harder to escape.

Slightly OT but I play my SW Combat HR in a similar way to the old Hybrid playstyle before the HR overhaul and very much like a Trapper without the rooting I suppose. Only difference is I don't use Marauder's at all, but cycle through my encounters constantly: RoS, Fox and Hindering, the latter which doesn't see as much use in ranged as the rest.

I don't think it will make very much sense to play Trapper as mostly ranged. You will be gimping yourself considerably with CC and damage. My advice is don't jump on the FotM bandwagon - stick with Archery if you want to play ranged. In Mod 6 we will also be able to root targets more effectively due to a new class feature.
    Our pain is self chosen.

I chose a HR bcause I thought I could use rooting to stay at range. But rooting seems to be basically utter HAMSTER in NW. 2 seconds is pointless.

...that's why you'll want to go Trapper - feat buff the roots' duration.
