While testing new paladin, i slotted a few companions, and noticed that none of the healer companions healed. I asked a few others in game and they had the same results as my own.
Apprentice Healer - cast his attack but nothing happened nor did he heal.
Battlefield Medic - did not do a thing, just stood in a combat stance and that's it.
Cleric (original female healer companion) - also just stood there
After combat, they all began healing once again.
I didn't get chance to try the others as i don't have them. I can only guess that with the reworking of Regeneration, this now prevents our healer companions from healing us during combat, which makes them useless. Perhaps allowing companion heals/regen work during combat would make things right. You can rename the script that they use and allow their regen to work in combat. this keeps both player regen and companion regen separate, as it is now two different scripts.
I show player support, by only playing Neverwinter as F2P
My first companion healer was healing just fine. He's was still level 1 while I'm 26. Now he's off to school while I dream of flying off on a floating disc.

Maybe tomorrow he won't work.
