nettest server connection timed out

I am at this point unable to login onto the NW launcher or otherwise start my NW client. CrypticNetTest is timing out. Has anyone else experienced this?
I was able to login circa 3hrs ago, played without issues for about 1hr, until the game crashed. Cannot log back in since then (approx. 9AM CET). Is the authentication/login server down?
Oddly, the gateway and professions have not been affected by this.
UPDATE:
Silly me.. GameClient.exe was still running after the crash, occupying close to 1GB of RAM. I crash at least once a day, but the process normally gets stopped. On the bright side, had a quiet, early breakfast :cool:.
So why is the nettest timing out for me?? This is still true even though I am now in-game.
