Newbie needs help

Hello,

There are a few things I find unclear in the game and I thought I should ask here.

1. For how long is mail kept in the mailbox before expiring or being deleted? Does it matter if the letter contains items?
2. How long before the end of an auction can the last bid be placed?
3. Is the usage of scripts grounds for a ban? Even a script that deletes your 10,000+ mails automatically?

    1. Mail is kept indefinitely, save for mail from the auction house, where the items have already been collected - those get automatically deleted, (but I'm unsure on how soon that happens).

    2. I usually just buy items outright on the AH. I have heard figures of 30 seconds to 2 minutes before the end, that the last bid can be placed.

    3. No scripts are permitted, period.

    Just to add to what Bioshrike said; there is a cap on mails that contain items. So you can only use your mailbox as storage to some degree. :P

    2. Usually you cannot bid in the last minute of an auction. It may not tell you either if your bid is the last one. You do have to refresh the particular auction page (bids or item looked up) to know if your bid is the last wining bid, or if it got a last minute one placed by somebody else. Lag makes this "last minute of auction" vary slightly.

    BTW, you can still get mail from the Auction House with items when your inbox is full. You cannot however get new mail from other players, or yourself when your inbox is full.
