New Player Here With PVP Concerns

Hi All,

Rocket here. I'm a returning player, but I might as well be brand spanking new. I played for a few days at launch then quit. Anyhow, I'm currently running a level 28 Hunter Ranger & so far, I enjoy him quite much. However, I have some thoughts in regards to Trickster Rogues in PVP. Now before you roll your eyes, hear me out.

When doing domination matches, literally every single match (not joking here), the Rogue class is single-handedly rofl stomping every person, be it Cleric, Wizard, GWF etc. They seem to have perma-stealth (or at least be stealthed long enough for it to matter), stunlock capabilities, extreme stealth crits (nearly 1 shotters), & a daily power that seems to be unavoidable & better than everyone elses damage daily. Now, what I'm really looking for, I suppose, is just some enlightenment—or for someone to explain to me what's going on.

As a Hunter Ranger, right now I have 1 root ability. When fighting Trickster Rogues, I can root them but they can still teleport directly to me. If I do manage to keep them in place, their throwing knives do just as much damage as any ranged classes' At-Will range move (if not more). Mind you, this is in addition to the aforementioned things in my 2nd paragraph. Now, any other class I can literally fight just fine & it's a matter of skill, but when I face any Trickster Rogue 1v1, it literally ends with the same outcome: me getting nearly 1 shotted from stealth, stunlocked, then sliced & diced while standing their helpless.

Also, this here is just a general question: are Hunter Rangers viable for PVP?

But is just me? Is the TR class a bit OP? I'm not crying nerf or anything like that, I'm just genuinely confused as to why this is the outcome with every single Rogue player.

Additionally, I heard you can have level 60 artifacts & stuff like that when doing low level PVP? Could that be the case?

You can have lvl 60 artifacts thanks to the Dragon Legend pack.
There are veteran players who make alts just to pvp, they bring their rank 10 enchantments with them.

It's quite possible you are facing veterans. Just press o then find person and inspect them.

Hunter Rangers are one of the most viable pvp classes (end game)
It is not your imagination Trickster Rogues will stay as broken through lvl 60 aswell.

Honestly as a player who loves pvp, do yourself a favor and stick to Gauntlgrym (level 60 and in guild are the requirements). The class balance problems don't sting as much there in pvp.

Low level PvP is not an indicator of PvP at max level. Players abuse serious advantages at these levels with end game enchantments and epic gear that cannot be competed against for newer players due to the ridiculous cost. That being said, rogue does currently have somewhat of an advantage over other classes in PvP now. Hence, that is why most of the incredibly geared out abusers you run into like I mentioned will most likely be rogues.

HR is definitely viable for PvP, but not currently at the top. PvP in this game is mostly gear based and balance often changes though, so it is better to simply pick the class you like and stick with it. Roughly I would rank classes in the order of PvP effectiveness currently as TR > CW/DC > HR > GWF/GF > SW in my opinion.

There are players with full rank 10 enchantments in low level PVP just so you know.

But yes, TRs are probably the best class right now in low level PVP and level 60 PVP
