Alchemy Question

I just noticed that while doing the research task to rank up in alchemy, I can still do the experimentation task for that level. Is it possible to still get basic alchemical knowledge from that? Until now I've just been setting that upgrade task overnight and not doing anything else since it takes a while, but now that I notice this I'm wondering if it makes more sense to just keep researching over and over hoping to get enough knowledge to skip a couple levels. Is that even possible or does it stop dropping knowledge once you get enough for that level?

    The experimentation tasks are still available, but once you gain enough research to complete the research task for that level, it will no longer grant any further alchemical knowledge. I know. I've seen me do this like a dork :P

    I also have a Alchemy question. I have made it to level 20 and the experiment has given me a few new potion types. How many different potions does it make before it quits rewarding anything but unstable potions?

    Three, after the final one the task will disappear.

    OP: yes once lvl 20 there are still things to unlock (major flasks) so it does make sense to experiment
