I might be wrong here, but I swear I'm getting nothing at all from the Gift of Simril. No notifications, no new items, and I don't think my lights went up. Am I doing it wrong?

I'm pretty sure you need to be in a party. And you don't actually get anything from the Gift; the party member you target gets the reward(s). Another member of your party has to give you a gift for you to get anything.
However, I suspect that the number of Gifts you give determines the rewards you get from the Gifts people give to you. That part's not entirely clear, though.
If I read it right.. get gift. Put it on belt. Get in party. Target any party member. Activate. ALL party members get a gift. Those of us who don't feel like partying, cannot play.
My party is having this issue THIS year. Except we are in a party, it is on our belt, we all released Gifts of Simril and no rewards appeared for ANYONE in the party. I've submitted a ticket, but that may not ever be addressed.

You're getting literally nothing, or only lights of Simril and lumens?
Because it's only a chance to get a Starlight Bag, which is what will contain the companions and other cool stuff.

I was in a 3-person party yeserday and didn't get anything when one other member (a friend of mine) targeted the third member of the party (a stranger). I also targeted the stranger and my friend didn't get anything.
On three other occasions, it was just me and my friend in the party, and it worked fine. I also got into a 5-person party and, as far as I could tell, it worked properly.
This is definitely a bug, but I don't know what causes it.
