Are they dragons or just big chickens?

Need to rename the Well of Dragons to the chicken coop LOL. Three times today we had a dragon run away while fighting it. Usually it is either the second or last one that decides to run for the rocks the base sits on. I don't think it is a bad idea for them to free range like that, but they do get lost and confused when trying to return to their spawn point. Too bad they become an invalid target at that point. The red one was a lot of fun riding back to the spawn though, even if it was hard to stay on top of it without sliding off...Thank you for the chuckles.

After a few weeks of massacre, no wonder some of them lose their minds ...

This is just a theory, but the Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow companion may be the culprit.

I've seen regular enemies run in some very odd directions when using her. Her Moon Shadow skill "confuses" enemies.

I don't use her on dragons because I don't want her Moon Beams skill buffing the competition. :^)

Speaking on behalf of dragons (being a half silver one here) sometimes it's just a dragon does not think you're really worth the bother of fighting.

These chromatics, in this case, aren't worried as they have all those Dragon Cultist minions running amuck with resurrection scrolls, and being Tiamat's Heralds they know that evil queen isn't going to let them lay down for long.

There's also the matter of Eleminster's chronomancy turning back time to send Tiamat into the Hells again which can have the side effect of making the dragons also become alive once more, reversing their death. Nobody has born personal witness to this yet as all most any see is Tiamat going back down that hole, and dragons flying down again about a half hour later.

Whatever part of this is, or isn't true there are some things you can do :

    1) Get right in front of the dragon, and demand it's attention with a good whack to the head.
    2) Stand in front of the dragon in the pathway of it's breath, and get ready to DODGE fast once it exhales.
    3) Form a barricade with sheilds on the side of the dragon as that, uhm, volunteer stands in front of the dragon. Box it in to fight.

Usually this will HAMSTER off the chromatic enough (or most people for that matter) they will stand still to fight instead of brushing you off like dust on a sleeve.

I also feel like it you were more polite and pre-soaked yourself in BBQ sauce before fighting a dragon, it'd be much more attentive to you.

All I'm saying is, let's not blame the dragons first. They're obviously perfect beings, and chances are the fault lies with us.

Don't fall for the "Great Success" fallacy. The only two times I got good drops from the dragon run was for NON-Great Success. It appears that quantity (do as many as you can) trumps quality (great success). At least this is my experience. :)

i like option 4 - close your eyes and walk across dragon spawn, scrape any dragon remains off your shoes :D

I thought dragons had wings -- why are they all walking on the ground, getting stuck on terrain, and sitting in one-spot on the ground attacking. They should be (at least occasionally) doing breath-weapon/rake fly-bys.

Giving the dragons a fly by strafing attack they use at 75% health and 25% health would definitely help thin out the zerg :)

Dragons don't run away....they chase. Usually it's the hit & run peep that smells like goat they're chasing. :p

Very good idea. The dragons should do that. It is kind of ridiculous that they just stay on the ground the whole time and take the melee beating.

However, all of the melee-only classes would freak-out! "I can't get Great Success now; only the ranged classes can!"

And, as I said before, quantity of HEs trumps quality (great success) - don't fall for the Great Success hype!

come on those dragons should move around tossing the tail in circles oneshotting everyone, flying in the sky shooting fair balls to the ground, giving blowing to left and to the right with their paws and not giving a **** about aggro.
this should be a dragon....instead we got dragon-dummies doing moon walk mid air.

You wouldn't be able to target the dragon during the strafing phase, sort of like Fulminorax in Malabog's Castle.

Are you sure it's not just a high dps person trolling? Get to the dragon early, get it's aggro, once everyone is there run away with the dragon following you to troll others. It's not nice but it's the first thought I had when I saw this behavior.

I would prefer dragon like this. Many 'ground' attack, not just passive dragon breath and air attack or weak bite.
