Hey Clerics,
I havent been playing NW for about 6 months, now Im thinking about starting again, rolling a DC.
My question: I remember back in my times, there's been a DC I faced multiple times in PvP. He was member of a premium guild called "Exodus" (are those guys still around?). I loved his playstyle and his DC build.
This dude was almost unhurtable, immensely tanky and dealt some acceptable damage.
Actual question: Is there any known build out there, viable for Module 5, which creates a tanky DC with a huge HP pool and high general damage resistance / HP recovery?
Could you guys help me and post some core features (feats, boons, armory, accessory, weapons, stats, enachantments) of such a build?
The virtuous tree does this almost automatically (AC or DO path) - but DPS can be painfully low. Many are choosing the Faithful tree (relatively tank, decent DPS) or the Righteous tree - which will melt mobs and can burn-down PvP opponents. But the big complaints from PvPers are against the unkillable nature of Faithful (and especially Virtuous) DCs.
About half of my GG-PvP kills with my Righteous DO are too close for comfort, or even western shootout style: I'm dead on the ground and, while waiting for respawn my DoT kills the other guy/girl...
I didn't give the other Paragon trees that much of a try, but the superficial math hammering seems to tell me that they are way more survivable - but do less damage. so if you are up to PvPing with your clan mates regularly, and can live with the resulting support role, go there. If you want to kill stuff, but are not opposed to dying now and then, Righteous is the way, at the sacrifice of some buffing and healing, but giving other buffs (Foresight!) in exchange. And in PvE Righteous is IMHO tanky enough if you dodge a bit.
Re. huge HP pool: you can ofc modulate that with items and , most easily, enchantments, eventually. Also, your healing will benefit from having a lot of HP, too. But it's a trade-off game, costing you some damage output.
Lastly, from hearsay: A friend who's regularly PvPing with great success on his whisperknife TR stated: "A good Cleric is unkillable for me. So when I don't see their health bar budge, I just stealth and walk away..."
An annointed champion Faithful with black ice gear and rank 7s/8s would do what you're after.
Trick to being unkillable really is knowing when to dodge. Be warned though, there's a lot of TRs out there right now who are using shocking exec as a way of one shotting everything, even a stacked DC.
