Companion Update/Survivability

Well with all these power creep additions to every mod, why not give some to the companions?

My suggestion is to allow all humanoid companions to wear Head, Armor, Hands, and Feet gear. This would increase their survivability while questing in these newer mods. Each gear slot can be opened at level/upgrade up like their neck, waist ring gear.

Now i would suggest that the armor gear stats, set/equip bonus etc., not be transferred to the player. This is for survivability for the companions and not another power creep for players.

As for non human companions, give them 5 more slots for either ring, waist, neck. Again these addition slots would not have any of their stats, set/equip bonus transfer to player. This is for companion only for their survivability.

Augment companions would have no changes/additions as they aren't attacking companions. They would stay the same as they are now.

maybe even give companions weapons slots. Again these stats would not transfer to player.
I show player support, by only playing Neverwinter as F2P

Or just allow crafting or vendor-selling of "Protection" potions (or whatever they're supposed to be) that beef-up XP - the same as the those "potions" (I forget what they are called) that you can craft to "overload" or otherwise "Reinforce" Helm, Armor, Greaves (I forget if bracers/gloves are included). You know, those "Reinforcement" things that you can craft for Power, or Deflect, or Critical - usually adding 100 points to the chosen armor piece?

Sheesh, so many words needed to explain a simple thing LOL

A "Reinforcement" ...potion or whatever those are, but for Companions that add buckets of HP to it. Just make it difficult to craft or something and requires some AD (for a good sink.) Obviously that wouldn't work on Augments, but still Joy is achieved.

OH! Make the requirement that the Companion be level 30 - there's your AD sink and exploitation-avoidance right there.

well cha gives your companion a % of your stats i think, so that would help. Just doesn't show in their character sheet thingy. AT least that is what I think companion influance is.

Letting non-augment companions wear artifact gear would be a start.

No matter how much I might like that... I think it's a bad idea for the game via power creep, etc.

    Just my opinion.

Maybe allow companions to wield regular, (i.e. white-purple non-artifact gear), main-hand items appropriate to their "class", (or some close approximation if that doesn't apply - including gaining benefits from slotted weapon enchantments).

Pets are already pretty tanky. Make sure your party includes a DC who knows what he's doing, and you're golden. I kept a blue non-augment pet out yesterday during VT and CN. My pet died only once when it had the bad luck to be smack dab in the middle of Draco's breath weapon. One res later and it was fine. Aside from that, it was immortal. Even VT's final phase with bazillions of wraiths swarming all over didn't KO it.
