Just a few questions for the P&P community currently playing NW:
What edition/variant do you play?
How well/poorly do you think NW keeps to D&D rules and/or spirit?
If we could get some NW community questers together for campaigning, who would be interested?
(For myself:
Pathfinder, though I cut my teeth on AD&D 2.0
To the rules, fairly poorly, but they've made a decent adaptation to satisfy modern MMO players. To the spirit, very well (especially to that of WotC. Not so much that of TSR, though)
I would love to get together, though I prefer Neutral & Good-only campaigns (not to mention a DM that doesn't mind improvising and a little bit of fudging with coin weight rules, etc)

-After trying 4.0 P&P, I raced back to 3.5, but I'm currently playing Pathfinder.
-I think that NW has done a pretty good job at transferring the mechanics of 4.0 into the video game setting as far as having 'dailies', 'at-wills', and 'encounter' abilites. But, I'm not a fan of class selection, or how the feats are handled. I think it could have been a lot more of a direct transition. I also think a lot of the storyline has been very weak, and poorly written.

I'm also a P&P player... Although I mostly used to play WoD than D&D 3.0... To be honest, the super high magic/high fantasy character of D&D settings like FR doesn't appeal to me, so when I played D&D it was on more realistic settings.. But of course, I'm open to adapt... And always looking for good roleplay
Im just wondering what is P&P and what exactly are you doing?

Pen & Paper ... Those who play/played D&D (the RPG system in which Neverwinter Nights 1, 2 and Neverwinter were based off) in real life instead of based versions in computer games.
- Currently I'm actively playing 4E and 5E. In the past I've played 3.5 regularly, but I just don't like it much anymore. Too much of a mess. 5E is kind of a mess too. 4E I like, which leads to me avoiding the D&D community, because there is so much tiring 4E bashing it drives me up a wall. I've also had some experience with a couple different editions of Shadowrun(3E FTW), as well as the Doctor Who RPG and The One Ring. I've tried to play Dungeon World but it just doesn't work for me.
- The spirit it keeps OK, but despite having 4E as an obvious inspiration, NW doesn't keep well at all to the rules of either that or any other edition. This is desirable. Actually porting the mechanics of D&D to an action game would fail miserably and be incredibly awkward.
- I'm in as much D&D as I can handle at the moment.
