As I have observed TR has the weakest stats in armor class, weapon and HP. Why?
Because, AC is more for heavy armors plate/scale. Hence the name "armor" class. Leather can easily be penetrated, by a blade/projectile. Rogues can wear heavier armor, too... at the cost of losing stealth, i believe. But not in this D&D game.

CW actually has slightly less AC - by 1, but often times CW stack some survivability. TR might want to try that too.
Also remember TR has stealth, MI path has ITC, shadowstrike, etc - so there are ways to live besides more armor.

Everything you need to know about CW:

...And those pvp (stealth) thieves staking with DEX/CON and HP are notoriously hard to kill even with best DPS classes...
