GWF: Defense vs Hit Points after 45k HP for PvP - which one and why?

Argument 1: Defense is better

- A lot of players have ArP and to cut down damage add more defense.
- 2xPvP rings and 4xB.Ice gear means you have sufficient tenacity which works best with a higher defense
- 5/5 Steely Defense, 20% defense as Power

Argument 2 : HP is better

- 29 CON (potential) and toughness gives you a lot of HP
- Because some players have a high ArP, it's meaningless to carry a high defense

After 45k HP (which I think is decent), which of these arguments win, HP or Defense ? If possible, please elaborate why.

    Theory/math based answer.
    I used a calculation of effective hit points.

    EHP = HP * 1/(1-DR/100) * 1/(1-DC*DS/10000)

    EHP: Effective hit points
    HP: Hit points
    DR: Damage reduction in % (add Tenacity in PvP)
    DS: Deflect severity in %
    DC: Defelct chance in %

    You can calculate an EHP boost (EHP+) for each increase and compare them directly.

    EHP+ = ( EHP[new] / EHP[old] - 1 ) * 100%

    Example: You have 45000HP and 55% DR and a defense rating of 3000
    +1200HP -> EHP+ = 2,67%
    +300 defense rating -> DR+ = 1,07% (LINK) -> EHP+ = 2,44%

    ... hit points :o

    I am at work, so I didn't have to crunch numbers yet.

    EHP = HP * 1/(1-DR/100) * 1/(1-DC*DS/10000)

    EHP: Effective hit points
    HP: Hit points
    DR: Damage reduction in % (add Tenacity in PvP)
    DS: Deflect severity in %
    DC: Defelct chance in %

    EHP+ = ( EHP[new] / EHP[old] - 1 ) * 100%

    Correct formula? (Will play with some numbers when I go home).

    Yes.

    50% DR will double, 75% DR quadrupple and 10% will give around 11% more EHP than HP.
    DC and DS work in the same way. 50% to avoid 50% equal a 25% DR which gives 33% more EHP.

    The concept is simple and you have to consider life leech (pro defense), regeneration (pro hit points), potions (pro defense), healing spells, artifacts, existing buff food... too.
