Can we PLEASE have an option to get our black ice main hand and arms through PvP?
1. After all, they ARE also PvP items.
2. It would give support classes, like the GF, TR, and DC, better chances to get their much-needed gear.
3. Some PvPers I know are spending most of their time in the Icewind Dale zones, leaving them little time to do what they REALLY want.
4. If people are worried about old players abandoning the heroic encounters, they can put their fears aside. There will always be CWs and GWFs who really LOVE to do HEs. Additionally, many of the older players will still do HEs because the quests grant a free 250 black ice (and that adds up a lot over time).
The gear can be achievements theough the PvP Campaign, much like the "Dominator's Cloak" and the "Dextrous" rings. The arms could be granted by scoring 75,000 total points, and the main hand at 100,000.
Keep in mind, this would NOT replace the current drop system.
EDIT: If you guys think this system would make it too easy for PvPers to get their BI gear, then double the points. 200,000 points for the main hand and 150,000 points for the arms.
They are not just PVP items. The devs have said repeatedly that they are hybrid items, suitable for both PVP and PVE. After all, Kessels retreat requires black ice gear and there is no question it is PVE content.
is exactly the flaw in your suggestion. It would lead to PvPers getting their gear guaranteed with enough effort, while a PvEer has to farm 500 HEs and still be without. It wouldn't be fair.
I absolutely agree that hiding gear behind a huge RNG/grind wall is unwise, undesirable and leads to very disappointed players, and ToD isn't any improvement in that respect. The fact they only make more gear exclusively available through RNG alone and on top of that do the same with boons worries me and, if continued, could greatly impact the loyalty of the playerbase to the game. But I see no reason to give PvPers an advantage over PvE people, for which the drop in question is just as valuable.
Well actually most of the very highest tier PvPers already have their BI gear. So we're talking about casual PvPers - the solo queue and duo queuers. And that being said, the games are usually to ROFL stomp or get ROFL stomped, so scores above 4k are not very common.
Now lets compare a PvPer and PvEer with rank 6s. PvE GWFs and CWs will easily get their items in less than 20 HEs. PvPers with rank 6s will most likely get stomped.
Besides, why can a PvP/PvE item be only optained through PvE?
Do you PvP? I would argue that BI gear is FAR more important to PvP than it is to PvE. You have to remember that just because the devs say something "is" doesn't exactly make it so.
So how do you rationalize the fact that you can do PVP content in any of the PVP armors. But its only PVE content that requires black ice armor?

What you are implying is actually incorrect in two ways:
1. The only reason for that requirement is so that the players would have a reason to grind Icewind Dale.
2. A GWF in "Avatar of War" will out-preform a GWF in corrupted or purified armor. Black ice gear isn't necessarily BiS for PvE.
I didn't say it was BiS. But that still doesn't change that its a key for PVE content. And not required one bit for PVP, nor is it BiS for all classes in PVP either.

It has overloads and it has Tenacity, so cheezers can cheeze with Reds... or whatever other color.
This is a good idea, adding 1 black ice gloves and MH to the PVP campaign completion box (the one where u get corrupted/purified belt would be perfect) would be a very nice gesture after all this I think.
They are not just PVP items. The devs have said repeatedly that they are hybrid items, suitable for both PVP and PVE. After all, Kessels retreat requires black ice gear and there is no question it is PVE content.
So basically you just proved the OPs point. He never asked to take it away from HEs and If its a hybrid then it should be earned in both PvP and PvE. I don't see your problem? He never said take it away from PvE, just to make it better for the people who haven't come to this game for PvE content or got bored of it.
PVPers have two entire sets of gear, plus jewelry, that is available only through PVP. If you don't want to PVE, then use one of those other sets instead.

Yes, because the pure random system works so well he wants an alternative, if not an outright advantage. I just don't agree with an advantage that only benefits a select group. Because clearly if the system was working and fair, the OP wouldn't of needed to propose this at all.

Actually it's 7 sets of gear. However, the BI gear is a straight upgrade from even the highest tier PvP gear. Therefore, BI gear is pretty much a must-need for PvP. On the contrary, for PvE Black Ice gear is not needed outside of Icewind Dale.
The point of a PvP option is not meant to give an unfair advantage, but to just plainly add another option. Think of it this way: if I want to PvP in this game, but can only get my PvP gear through PvE, do I any reason to enjoy this game? After 2 months of doing ONLY PvE, why should I keep on playing?
And actually, the current system "works" so well that many GFs, TRs, and (especially) DCs have not gotten their gear after grinding for TWO MONTHS. Sentence was a little long, so let me reiterate: in PvE, DPSers have an advantage that support classes don't have. In PvP, support classes play a stronger role, therefore, evening up the chances.

I continue to be amazed by the number of people who come to a game that is PVE-focused and based on killing dragons in dungeons, but who have absolutely no interest in killing dragons in dungeons. It's like someone downloads Call of Duty but complains that they don't like warfare, and can't they just enjoy the game without killing people? I mean really.
As things stand now, PVPers don't hardly have to do any PVE at all. You can get all of your gear and a great deal of AD entirely through PVP. And if the little remaining PVE that you have to do bothers you that much, you should find another game.
And a lot of people farm the IWD encounters stupidly. They go only for the Epic HEs, which seem to spawn only once every few hours, and then are immediately zerged by 40 people which dilutes greatly the chance of anyone getting 'great success' or an epic gear drop. (kinda like how certain Dragon HE's work now...) So they waste a lot of time in a futile attempt to get their gear. What they either don't understand, or refuse to acknowledge, is that every Major HE ALSO has a chance at dropping epic gear. Your chances are likely even BETTER at a Major HE because they spawn much more frequently (so more chances) and they are not immediately zerged by 40+ people when they spawn (individual contributions are weighted more heavily).

You're wrong. I don't care if you feel that this game shouldn't have PvP and should only have PvE because you didn't make it.... Don't like it? I'll tell you what you tell us "Go find a 100% PvE game if you have a problem"

I ask you to find a game with BOTH the smooth combat system and slick interface that can rival with Neverwinter. But until then, it seems like seems like you are asking the WHOLE PvP community to HAMSTER off.
Actually, PvPers will still have to go into Icewind Dale zones to mines some black ice, and (as I have said previously) complete daily quests. While you bring up profit, I have two things to say.
1. 2 runs in "Dungeron Delves" will get you at least 16k AD, while FOUR runs of PvP will get you 8k AD.
2. Even though I have over 3 million AD available, I cannot do ANYTHING about my bracers or main hand expect get the cheap knockoffs.
When you are talking about the HE grinding, I'm assuming you're referencing my comment about 2 hours in Icewind zones each day. Let's do some math. 5 days a week x 2 hours each day = 10 hours. 10 hours x 4 weeks = 40 hours. Now, it doesn't really matter how stupidly you run the Heroic Encounters, but you should have the drop. And if this keeps on happening, a new system NEEDS to be implemented.

40 hours isn't nearly enough time if your grinding is done foolishly.
And yes this game would be much better if PVE and PVP were completely separated. You wouldn't have to put up with PVE at all, and I wouldn't have to put up with PVP whiners getting my class nerfed for PVE play because they can't beat them in the arena.

Doesn't matter. PVP is in this game and Black Ice gear is vastly superior to Profound gear for the majority of classes. TRs are probably the lone exception. I finally got my Purified set completed yesterday. Night and day when compared to my Profound Preserver gear. Overload slots make a massive difference. I immediately tried the Blue cheese. LOL. Now I know why I collapsed from page 54 to 326 in a week of pugging. Black Ice gear takes a giant dump on Profound gear. I was back up to page 97 within 5 PUG matches.
So whatever you may think, PVP is a part of this game and if you want to stand a chance you need Black Ice gear.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.
So whatever you may think, PVP is a part of this game and if you want to stand a chance you need Black Ice gear.
And the Black Ice gear is freely available to any PVPer who wishes to get it via the Heroic Encounters.
And if you can't/won't do that, you can even get the BI hat without the Heroic Encounters. The hat has an overload slot too.
But no, even that's not good enough for you. You want to be able to avoid PVE entirely. In a PVE-focused game.
If I have to put up with your PVP whining on the forums day in and day out demanding nerfs to every class that you can't beat, then you will have to put up with the itty-bitty amount of PVE that you have to do to get the few items of good gear that you claim you "need".
You know, it wasn't all that long ago that PVPers had to get all of their gear from the T2 dungeons just like every other player. Now, asking PVPers to participate in one small aspect of PVE in one single module of the game, while being able to avoid every single other PVE experience from level 10 forwards, is somehow this great travesty. When did PVPers get so entitled?

I both PVE and PVP. I was responding to your statement whereby you questioned PVPers being in a PVE game. PVP is here is all I was getting at. I also highlighted the importance of Black Ice gear, which you downplayed. I can now see it from both sides. You say you're name is pointsman, but you're not even close, man. For the third time, let me say this: we HAVE grinded HEs, we just have NOT gotten anything, so this is simply a proposed change.
Answer me these questions:
You're saying PvPers don't need their bracers? Or their main hand? Are you saying you want PvP players to NEVER have BiS gear? Because that's what I'm getting from your posts.
And FOR THE RECORD, PvE players do NOT need Black Ice gear outside of Icewind Dale. In fact, they WON'T be BiS with Black Ice gear equipped.
Will a player with one overslot or a player with two overload slots perform better?
Lastly, PvPers DO, in fact, PvE. The best transmutes come from seals, which come from dungeons; which, in turn, are PvE. Boons come from Sharandar, Dread Ring, Icewind Dale, and the Mod 4 places, which is PvE. HEs are PvE. Black Ice jewlery drops from Kessell's Retreat, which is (yeah, you're finally getting it) PvE! Besides, even if we didn't PvE, we could have bought all our gear in Mod 1 and 2, either through glory or AD. Mod 3 simply screwed with every class that couldn't put up massive DPS.
@magenubbie, That is a valid point, but for PvE, Black Ice gear is simply inferior to tier 2 sets from dungeons. For PvP, Black Ice gear is THE top-notch grar.
Why not just ask for an easier way (may not be easy, but less RNG) for both PVE and PVP? I get the distinction you're trying to get across about it being BIS PVP and not for PVE, but why ask specifically for a small fraction of the population instead of for everyone? The PvPers AND PvEers have been grinding for months and havent found their bracer/mh. There is no differential there.

Who would spend any zen for any of that when the drop rate is the worse I have ever seen in ANY MMO.
