So, I've been noticing that almost all TRs are playing some variant of a permastealth build. Due to survivability, I understand that, but I really don't like it. Instead, I've been running a scoundrel TR with a good deal of emphasis on shredding armour (so, trying to stack enough rec to severely drop reminder's CD). I find it works pretty well most of the time in PvE, which is what I mainly do. Are there any other non-permas out there willing to give advice for picking the best feats for the job, etc.?
Perma-stealth can be used in PvE for a few solo boss fights, but most of the perma-stealth builds are originally created for PvP, not PvE.
In PvE, since TR's don't deal a lot of damage, it does make sense to have more of a utility role. When I PvE, I slot Smoke bomb, Wicked Reminder and Impossible to Catch.
The thing is that TR's don't add so much utility. Smoke bomb sometimes helps with control but most of the time it isn't significant, it's more of a bonus. I mean, if you run a dungeon and your CW disconnects the party could end up dead, but if the TR disconnects it probably won't change too much. Wicked Reminder is great to have, but is only useful with bosses that last more than a minute.
What should you do to make it better? There are many options, you can boost INT for recovery, you can boost CON for survivability, or DEX for some extra deflection and for feeling like a rogue (Though it is the inferior stat for this purpose). I'd say the biggest thing you could do to make a difference is get a Terror enchantment... It is less common than Plague Fire, has a similar effect to it and stacks with it, so it would allow you to put some extra armor reduction.

It depends on enchants you're using in pvp, but there is an option for PVE, even if TRs are not really loved for DJ.
If you're using radiant and silvery, you can put all ur radiant in offensive slots and silvery in defensive slots, to get lot of power. With a high dex build, you can get a DPS "role" focusing on Boss. For Djs, i use a mix of corrumpted black ice and master murderer ("master assassin", sry can not find english name....). MAybe not the best solution, but enough for many DJs.
Cheers!!
