First let me say I have very little experience with macs, beyond use in middle/high school in the 90s. I never installed software (I started using macs when we still ran Odell Lake and Oregon Trail off a 5 inch floppy). BUT I am trying to get Arc/NW to run on my boyfriend's MacBook Pro so he has a portable solution. (He has a windows desktop but it's huge and not at all portable.)
SO. I installed the trial of Crossover, I got it to install the Arc install file, and it said Arc installed fine. I try to launch Arc from within Crossover... and nothing happens.
My boyfriend said he got much the same result when trying to run from WINE/Bottle Opener.
Every post on the forums that I can find point to the NW-direct download, before Arc existed. These are obviously no longer useful.
I'm at a complete loss.. I don't even know enough about Macs to see if Arc is launching in the background somewhere (What's the iOS version of Task Manager?).. but it doesn't look like anything is happening.
Any insight you guys can provide would be VERY much appreciated, and thank you!
Ok I can't get wine to work for arc either though there are some people who say they have with play on linux. You have a mac so there is a mac version called play on mac. http://www.playonmac.com/en/
Now that said I run just a basic wine install with nothing fancy like the play on linux software. The way I got around this limitation is to just copy my windows install folder onto a my linux partition.
I then launch the client with
wine Neverwinter.exe 2>/dev/null

I did an install with the playonlinux instructions last night and everything worked flawlessly. You should be able to do the same thing with the playonmac version.

You can find instructions for working with that here http://www.gamersonlinux.com/forum/threads/neverwinter-free-mmo-guide.170/
