Hello, I've started a guardian fighter who is level 11 right now and I am looking for any pvp swordmaster builds. I want to be able to dish out the pain but also be able to sustain damage. So when I hit 60 which set should I use?(grim armors)(Pve armor if necessary). Which are the recommended feats? Should I go protector tactician or conqueror?, protector was my main goal but I encountered a guardian the other day hitting me for 819 with bulls charge on a non deflect on my warlock with only 1k defence so that kind of put me off of the protector tree but is it still viable?
Also I would like it if Pve is not mentioned in this thread as this is a primarily pvp discussion thank you.
I have tried iron vanguard but It's not my cup of tea, and I think flourish&crescendo look cool and offer good burst. And they work well with 5 sec immunity. Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. And thanks for feed back if you do post any :-).
First of all, if you want to do max damage then its Iron Vanguard Conquerer path. Trample the Fallen and Frontline surge are 2 powers that increase your damage and give a great control affect in order to strike with that damage.
For swordmaster I would do a combo of the Iron maiden reflect build.
For pvp if you want to get some damage in and kills with swordmaster I would do something like this:
Steel Defence & Guarded Assault.
Lunging Strike, Bull Charge, Knights Valor
Supremacy of Steel, Cresendo
Each match can be a little different, so if your group is good then go with the Knights Valor reflect to protect your team and hold the middle.
If everyone is running around or you just want to kill/snipe then switch out knights valor for Flourish.
for At Wills, if you go conquer path obviously you use cleave cause your putting points in for a bonus. In PvP I never find the hitting multiple targets to come into effect with cleave. If there are 2 or more targets in front of me i'm usually blocking so the stab will hit multiples anyway - and I spec protector so I get extra damage for the stabs.
My main at will I use crushing surge. Just be careful to not try and get that 3rd strike in all the time. Usually you only get 1 or 2 hit in before you need to block. But it does more damage than cleave and if a target is controlled or hitting someone else you can get the 3rd hit in for some healing.
Tide of Iron is the second at will, don't be afraid to use it. It does a pretty good debuff on the enemy.
For the class feature, I like guarded assault becuse you block so much in pvp it does great damage. but like I said before if your wanted to kill/snipe then combat superiority is good too.
Only put 1 point into bull charge. The extra knockback isn't really worth it since you want to be able to get to your target and hit them.
Edit:
for feats, it depends if you want to kill snipe or help the team a bit more. If your looking for kills then conquer path and use cleave and combat superiority.
If you really want to win matches then I'd say protector.
Obviously you also put 5-10points into tacticiton for the encounter cooldown feat. And either crushing pin for more damage or daunting challenge to screw over the enemy.
Heh, Daunting challenge to mark a target then use knights challenge on say a control wizard. Then go hide behind a corner. They will wonder why they are doing 60% less damage. Its worth a few lol's.
Edit:
For armour, When you hit 60 you can just go to the AH and get some purple items for cheap and save your glory for a profound set.
Thanks bud, that's some valuable feedback there. So I think I will go for protector because I enjoy winning matches. sword master protector. I'll wear the conqueror armors for some damage. So then I will be balanced.
