Greetings Control Wizards!
We want to hear what you have to say about your class!
If chosen as a class advocate, you'll be responsible for compiling the feedback of your fellow players about your class. Each week, you'll submit feedback in the form of a bullet-point list to me via forum PM. I'll then take that list (and the lists from the other classes) and forward them to our devs.
How do you become a class advocate?
You can start by stating your interest in this thread.
After that, send me a PM answering these questions:
-Why do you want to be a class advocate?
-Why do you like this class?
-How long have you been playing Neverwinter?
-Do you play any other MMOs? (Don't worry, we won't get jealous ) If so, what class do you play?
-Do you play D&D? If so, what class(es) do you like to play?
-In what direction do you want to see this class go?
Once I've selected a candidate, this candidate will remain "in-office" until the next module's launch. For example, the candidate I choose now will remain until Module 5's launch (whenever that may be). Please remember: Private Message Akromatik with your Answers to his Questions, as well as any Concerns or Questions one may have. Do NOT post nominations or comments about others in this thread. If you have a concern about someone who has nominated them-self, PM Akromatik or any of the Community Team.
This thread is not for general discussions, it is not for bashing, and it is not for PvP Smack Talk. This is a Nominations thread, not a Voting Thread or Soap Box.
Furthermore, if one cannot follow our Rules of Conduct, they most certainly won't be an Advocate. Think before you post folks and remember our first Rule: Show Respect At All Times!
About the Role of an Advocate:
Advocates won't be chosen to represent their opinions. But instead are to act as intermediaries for the Community as a whole on specific topics and areas, whether or not they agree with such or not. They will have checks and balances to make sure that they are being unbiased in their relay of the Community's Ideas, Opinions, and Suggestions.
Furthermore, Advocates won't be able to "make things happen." Instead, such is more akin to what we Moderators already do, which is relay all the hot topics and serious bugs so that the Developers know to look more deeply into such issues being reported in Bug Reports and on the Forum. The Developers don't just take our word for it, they see our word as a sign that they need to look deeper into the matter.
Alas, Moderators do not have the time to properly dedicate to such as we have other duties. This has been made aware by the sheer number of things we report each week (and sometimes daily) and then find out that we have forgotten something or overlooked something else entirely. This is where the Advocates come in, to help and ease such things.
Also, here is some clarification also from Community Manager Akromatik:
Some clarification on the on class advocate position.
-These individuals will be selected based on their past actions and participation in the class feedback threads from previous modules. They will be selected by GentlemanCrush and myself.
-The advocates will hold office for 1 module. Once their time in the sun is up, we will move on to the next eligible candidate.
-These advocates will not be assisting in the design or decisions regarding the class direction. These players will function to collate and collect feedback into more readable lists to improve dev response time and better allow the feelings of the community to become apparent.
-A big part of this is separating the feedback from the "discussions" that tend to pop up in these threads. These advocates will include any and all feedback in their reports. They will not be the ones deciding what is "good" feedback and what isn't. If we find that an advocate has been purposely omitting feedback in their reports, they will be relieved of their post immediately.
Hopefully that has answered some questions.

By the way, I don't know if that changes anything, but I think the advocate should be chosen by voting... followed by the devs's approval.
Since a week after the release of mod.4 i completely stopped pvping.
I don't like what the class has become, i don't like this easy-mode at-will spamming waiting for a FEAT(!?!?!?) to proc, that's not for me and for a lot of good control wizards i played with and against for months.
The way they completely broke/OVERworked the class to tone down the pve aspect of it is something i still don't understand, they could've fixed the 4/5 things that made the class over-perform in pve (we all know what those are/were) and leave the rest as it was.
I seriously hope this will be be a good start to really bring balance to both pve and pvp, keeping the skillcap relatively high or at least DECENT but in all honesty after more than a month of ignored constructive feedbacks in the CW mod4 preview thread sadly i don't expect much.
In my opinion balance can only be achieved through discussion between devs and their playerbase, but it's hard when the conversation is one-sided.
I am willing to talk as long as someone listens.
I would like to see Cws in a competitive place for both PvE and PvP, I don't want to see a continual trend of broken mechanics, especially the way Storm Spell currently works. Having played since Open beta I believe and feel that I have an exceptional understanding of the class in PvP. Whilst my Pve Knowledge may be somewhat lacking, as this is not an area that I explore in great detail I feel that with discussing the current state of the class with other noteable players, as well as the general Cw population is a great place to understand the general perception and direction the playerbase would like the class to move in.
Why do you like this class?
I have always loved Mage esque classes. At the time of Open Beta, Control Wizard was the only Mage class. Even now, with the addition of Warlock, I have loved playing the Cw through the ups and downs over the last year and a bit. The Playstyle of the Cw appeals to me more than anything else. I have never enjoyed Melee classes, and the combined ability to play as a pure CC class, as well as a bursty nuking class is just icing on the cake.
How long have you been playing Neverwinter?
I have been playing Neverwinter since Open Beta. I have only the one Control wizard, having initially rolled as a Tierfling, as I believed that provided the best racials for the class for both PvP and Pve. Initially I dabbled in Pve, however, quickly gravitated to PvP, where I have played Mage classes for the entirety of my PvP life.
Do you play any other MMOs? (Don't worry, we won't get jealous ) If so, what class do you play?
At this present moment in time, the only MMO I play is NWO. I have previously Played, EQ2 (As a Wizard - Single target Dps), WoW - Frost Mage, Warhammer Online - Bright Wizard, Rift - Mage (Specialised as a Dominator / Fire Wizard, Dominator / Chloromancer).
Do you play D&D? If so, what class(es) do you like to play?
I have not played Paper DnD in a couple of years, due to time constraints, however, once again, when I did. I played a mage.
In what direction do you want to see this class go?
I would like to see the class move away from the current meta, where the potential damage of the class relies on a feat to proc, and a Class passive to proc as well. I would love to see a return to the class requiring skill rather than simple procs taking care of everything for the class.
Pre Mod 4, players could tell the difference between a good Cw, a mediocre Cw and a Sensational Cw in pvp. Likewise in Pve. In PVP, pulling off a certain rotation was an accomplishment, especially against particular classes. Cws, have always been integral to sucessful premades in pvp, I would like to see this be the case, simply because they can be played extremely well by skilled players, not because anyone can play the class by holding down a mouse button.
As I am not super familiar with the problems Cws face in Pve, and can but comment in this regard in passing, I would like to see the class progress to the stage where players do not need to stack 3 or 4 of the class to simply run a group.
I know I am not the first to suggest it, and more than likely I will not be the last. Instead of having a single Class Advocate for the class that I love, I would greatly prefer to see a council of 2-4 players, (potentially 2 PvP wizards and 2 Pve Wizards) gather the information and discuss what direction the class should move forward.
Not only will this prevent the majority of mis-information from being passed forwards, but would also allow another medium of discussion between those who are experienced with both styles of gameplay (Because PvP wizards, gear, spec and focus on different stats compared to Pve wizards.) Just like within the two styles of gameplay there are different specs with feats. (Renegades pre mod 4 had a specific pet layout compared to Thaumas for Pve).
I believe having a council instead of a singular person will alleviate the concerns of many players when it comes to the focus of the Class advocate. Not to mention if the elected class advocate should leave the game for any particular reason after taking up office (so to speak), having a class council would allieviate any issues that would arise by not having the class advocate around for a period of time. Combine that with having multiple people covering the forums and able to report the current thought processes of the players, should reduce the workload requested.

My username in game is Alt. For those who don't already know me i have been a cw since day 1 of the creation of NW and have remained faithful to the class to this day.
To the question of my expertise in the class. I think i can safely say that no one has played and competed on the top level of pvp in this game for as long as I have.
I was in Lemonade Stand at its beginning and was truly the first cw (with Noobler) to bring viability in the top level of Pvp for Cw (with the boulder setup). I am now in Chocolate Shop and could still be said to be one of the most successful pvp cws.
I have not only been through every cw change that has occurred in both pve and most importantly PvP, but have also pioneered most of the successful builds (HV thaum build of Pve that is still used to this day, Pvp Tene/Boulder builds, etc.) that have been widely used throughout the game.
I have unfortunately not been a very active agent on the forums because I never saw a developer's interest in what we had to say, but this changes things.
I love this class more then any other because of its almost boundless potential, from the cc rotations to the split second dodges, this class for me is paradise for someone that wants to constantly improve and push his limits.
I want to be a class advocate because not only do I think i am more then qualified for the job by knowing everything inside out from the class, I want to become an advocate because this class in my opinion has been misunderstood and now with this new Mod distorted out of its purpose.
I have played other MMO and not played any other DND but i do not think that is relevant to the question regarding we are discussing the game i have now played for much over a year.
However I have played many Esports, like Starcraft to a high competitive lvl which i find make me understand and focus on the importance of balance and interaction, as these are the things that make a long lasting, successful pvp game.
And as to what direction i would like the see the class go, well i think it needs to take a drastic shift from the 0 interaction, button smashing, 75% damage coming from procs meta that it is right now to a much more interactive and reactive based class that it used to be, but pushing it even farther, and i think the same would apply to pve.
My focus I think would very much be objective and above all on balance and I think with my experience I could bring an expert view to the cw changes so that they can evolve in a balanced, healthy and much more engaging way.
