Thought i'd see what people are liking. I tend to try to favor paths that aren't the preferred path at the moment. Although this time around it seems the path I want happens to be a path a lot of people are going with.

Damnation = buggy exploit in pvp and buggy aggro in pve dds..

why have two people voted for THAT already?

Because most people are still levelling and/or don't PvP so won't have experienced either issue (and the first is getting fixed tomorrow).

Just looking at the number of puppet armies hanging around zone exits tells you how popular Damnation 'locks are at the moment.

I play a very melee almost tanky build of a Warlock. I'm not yet level 60 (only 44) but so far I use Hand of Blight and Hellish Rebuke (swapping rebuke for dark spiral or eldritch blast depending on group, hellish rebuke seems to be good for pvp). I use shadow walk and deadly curse for class features although building up warding curse again due to my melee DR/mitigation focus i've slipped into.

Can't say i'm super great at fighting lots of mobs at once, but give me one tough mob to throw down with and I can trade blows with it quite nicely. Vampiric Embrace works great with a curse giving me a bunch of Temp HP and usually fills me full health from near death, although not so great on using on trash mobs. Pillar of power is nice gives me a good damage increases and if mobs come into contact with it, a nice AoE burst. Fireburst great for trash clearing, Infernal spheres pretty nice for a number of situations and works great for melee style.

Combine warding curse with hand of blight and with some feats from the damnation tree, it seems you can take some pretty good hits from a single target, again not so hot when swarmed.

I have not gotten my capstone yet, but often I use my daily for healing and to summon my puppet and while its out i'm granted another 10%DR and some other nice benefits one of which when I level further will give me another 10% increase in damage.

I can't say its the most dangerous nuking build out there, but its fun to play and it takes a bit to bring me down, at least in PVE. I use a lot of defense deflect gear and some pretty high lifesteal.

I have not pvp'd with mine yet, so far in DD I have been more tank than most tanks i've ran with. I heard so many wanting to do Fury and Tempatation that I wanted to do something that isn't being done by the vast majority. Personally I think diversity is useful, even if there are 2 or 3 warlocks in a group it helps if at least one isn't a mirror image of the others.

Damnation is a great levelling tree and at 60 is a great all-round build. The other two come into their full power a little later and are more specialised. All three are fun to play IMO.

Uh, I can tell you as a temptation lock from start to finish I came out swinging and only picked up speed as I leveled. I dunno where you got your approximation from, but it's way off base.

He means the Temptation and Fury Warlock don't shine bright at the start until they hit 50 and get their respective capstone feats. This is less true of the Damnation capstone cause all it dose is summon puppets well to be more clear it boost the dps of existing puppets is more like it. TBH its not hard to have a soul puppet out at all time even with out the capstone and the first 4 feats that come before it off the bat Provide excellent Party Support Via cures effects and the feats after those 4 only make the puppet stronger and boost your persona dps and defense along the way so you can say damnation warlocks start shining at lower end lvl even before we have the puppet summon capstone.

This is why Temptation and Fury are late bloomers and for the record on preview i lvled up a fury warlock and On live i lved up a damnation warlock and fury dose not start to pick up until 45 when you can get executioners and then 50 when i got the capstone cause in fury they give you a considerable DPS Boost. Any way temptation warlock lets be honest the only worth wild party buffing feats they get till they get the capstone is compound soul and the lifesteal aura the rest of your feats are all kinda Lackluster DPS debuffs maby the 5% dmg aura is ok but really its not all that till you get the capstone.

I don't really consider the temptation a late bloomer. If you are playing a warlock you are most likely living, eating, and breathing life steal. The only thing the Temptation capstone does is turn your DPS into group healing which doesn't matter as for PvE grouping you will always be considered DPS regardless. The capstone just makes the warlock better utility in the end for temptation.

The capstone is the only reason any one would want a temptation warlock is cause of the healing capstone several players have already established they can out heal clerics and DPS at the same time. but ther cleric have their own thing But other then that sadly the capstone is the only reason a temptation warlocks is even thought about that and compound soul and the lifesteal aura.

You mite not consider temptation a late bloomer but tbh it is and the only reason anyone would want one on their team is thanks to that capstone feat and its mass healing other then that your doing less dps then a fury and damnation warlock if you were just dps i would pass on you for one of the other two but because you can heal at the same time yeah join up.

Temptation is great. Until I finish TOD campaign, that's what I'll be.

I have HAMSTER gear now, just hit 60, but little but of damage and little bit of healing = always Great Success in Dragon HEs even when I join late.

Was Fury and I'm playing with temptation now though. Much easier to hit HE thresholds as temptation when the dragons are overpopulated. I'm most built for dps gear wise but with the temptation tree, so my lifesteal isn't as high as it could be, but I still pump out a ton of healing and my dps is higher than it would be with higher lifesteal gear. Honestly while I did drop a little bit of dps, I'd guess it was only between 10-20% and the added utility makes up for it unless you only run guild groups where any outside healing isn't needed. If you pug a lot temptation is a far better choice imo.

Am a level 46 Fury Lock and love it. I can take on 5 or more mobs at one time in PVE and as for PVP, while I don't get first place, I can hold my own and do pretty good damage without dying alot by constantly moving and strafing. I have a very high Lifesteal, as well as Critical and Armor Pen, and that helps along with high survivability. This is a very fun class to play.

Fury for now. Still grinding thru to get to IWD. After that, I may switch to Temptation.

Playing full Temptation here, leveled from the ground up as one. It's been one fun ride, I have to admit that I did hit a bump in the road while leveling, around the 40's before I got my capstone to help keep my tanking companion up. In those regards I did not twink out, I used whatever leveling gear that I came across and was lucky to get a dragonbone grimore early on.

11k GS so far and still a fun ride. It certainly doesn't pack as much of a punch as I want to, dailies are much slower than my cw, but then I don't have the best gear or enchants either. It's certainly fun in a dungeon/group environment. I've only done random dungeon groups so far and temptation pairs well with a buff/debuff DC.

I have not played fury or damnation but don't really have any interest in those two specs. The army of puppets sound fun but in a dungeon environment, probably not so much. Fury.. well, I have my cw to play.

Started out as fury then when I hit 60, I went straight to Temp seeing that temp locks survive more overall in these dungeons (never did dungeons 1-59, just quested). Good for parties too. However, I miss my fury and all those numbers and will go back to Fury once I get better gear. I was born a Fury!
