You mean the actual upgrade from max rank epic to legendary or from lowest rank epic to legendary?

There's a significant difference between the two.

    311k rp to l60
    3,847,635 to l100

Price varies depending on what you use to refine and how much you get it for. Possible double rp event coming up too.

let us say it like that

the best way to refine is the Sharandar Enchant that we craft since it is rank 8 enchant and its price per refining points it offers is lower than sapphire from wonderous bazar

so 3 million refining points / 28,000 points of the enchant = 107.1 of this enchant to get 3 million ref points let us say 108 enchants

since it costs 20,000 Astral Diamond

    20,000 x 108 = 2,160,000 AD to get it to legendary

It cost a bit less actually.

With crits and partial crits, you get about 10% bonus RP overall.
    So you'd need 98 enchants~ give or take 2-3

considering that a lesser fey costs 75k at the moment, I guess you are losing about 55k AD * 108 ench on profit, that is about 6m AD you could make by selling those 108 fey blessings.
If you have made them for 20k AD.

47.5k or so actually (AH cut) :P

That's a very valid point though!

That's not so bad really. It costs about 1.35 million to get one Companion from Green to Purple.

And you cannot even use them in PvP.

He used broken figures though. It requires more than 3m rp to reach legendary and fey blessings give 25,920 rp each.

The difference in rp for legendary-epic = 3,536,500
You need 136.4 lesser fey blessings (which you need to farm). It'd take 68 weeks for 1 character to farm enough for the 1 artifact given farming every day. 45 if you used the 30 spark bags. Too bad that sharandar is the most boring place ):
So that is 2.7m (rounded) AD per artifact from 60-100. Minus the crits of course. However that's your best case scenario atm. If you were to use flawless sapphires from the bazaar that would cost 21.2m AD per artifact from 60-100... Blood rubies are worse. Because they patched up the exploit using the old refining method there are currently limited effective ways in levelling up artifacts. Basically you probably don't want to use flawless sapphires and blood rubies :)

I keep reading this everywhere, but I find Dread Ring much more tedious. The Events in Dread Ring are better - I often get the Gold prize from killing whatever the event is, and the Dungeons tend to be quicker. I don't often kill many Quicklings in Sharandar.

But Sharandar is a bit more interesting for a nature lover. Dread Ring is a dreadful place of death and necromancy. Although, the MotH Skirmish is good for the armour enchants, although getting enough Terror enchants is quite slow. And I have no idea about those blade things; I am so far off from getting to Malabog's Realm...

I got pretty bored of grinding both of them on two main characters, so I started taking out my Leadership mules for a change of pace. Especially since the GF, GWF and TR had all their Feats reset.

Yes, I certainly would not pay for those. You get more bang for your buck buying Aquamarines from the AH. At least, last time I looked. And even though Flawless Sapphires are much cheaper from the AH than the Wondrous Bazaar, Aquamarines are still a better deal, RP per AD.

It's largely down to progression rate. Sharandar is so slow. Also for dread ring you basically only need to do the solo dungeon and you're done, plus the weekly which you don't have to go out of your way to do. For sharandar, you can unlock your first 2 boons pretty quickly and then the rest of them take forever. It just feels so awful to me.
