Character Customization Changed - Options Pulled?

I hadn't played NW in awhile and really wanted to enjoy a Scourge Warlock. I patched and to my utter horror, discovered the face shapes system had been completely revamped and replaced with something that's frankly lazy. Five shapes of hardly any variation. All but the fifth one have any real difference in the eye shape. The noses are different and there's slight variation in lip shape, but gone were the stark bases of the original system.

I miss the old shapes, because you didn't have to fit into a narrow idea of what a woman should look like. Men seem to have fared no better, but in the opposite way. Every new male face looks terrible.

I realize people were complaining about the old faces, but not all of us like playing pretty characters with the false eyelash look. Before, I had to really fight with the system, but I could get a look I liked by using the Apart base and some extreme use of the sliders. My old methods do not translate into much difference at all on these new bases.

I am curious why this homogenization occurred, when Cryptic is known for customization. This is a step in reverse, not forward. Add new faces if you want, but for God's sake, don't take our old ones. Some of us really liked the unusual configurations.

I really love the game, but I hate having to look like everyone else. I prefer to be unique, not some cookie-cutter model with the same styled bob every other character has.

Please, Cryptic, let me be unique again. I don't want to be stuck with my 1st Generation characters forever. One is already level 60.

*Before you say it, I don't want to play a male character and yes, I already have tried with the other races. If Dragonborn is sold separately for cheaper, I'll consider that option then.

I think I read somewhere that it was to fall in line with the new concept art from WotC for races , the developers haven't said anything official about it though as far as I'm aware.

I believe this is part of it. It could also of been a move to streamline and update character engine to make it more pleasing to the console market.

Halfling bodies appear to have been changed a little in mod 4 - but they're still bordering on horrific. I also prefer the old faces, but that's less of a disastrous change. It's no longer possible to do a 'curvy' Halfling unless your definition of curvy is thick waisted with a gut and toothpick legs.

That is a little disappointing to hear. I hope it gets reintroduced in the future. I really don't want a character that looks like everyone else to satisfy marketing for new concept art.

Just fix the neck on females, PLEASE. All I ask out of them.
