LOL Why bother putting the "always" option in the poll? That number there is going to remain firmly at zero. :)

Like most players I read it the first time through. Why bother on subsequent runs through the same quest?
    Jenna Sunsoul - Justice Tankadin
    Aelar Hawkwind - Archer
Karrin Feywinter - Mistress of Flame
    Errin Duskwalker - Executioner
    Darquess - Soulbinder

I started playing this game for the lore and the setting. So yes, I do read/ listen to the quest text when its new to me. If I already know what they are going to say though, I just click accept and go do it.

I want to try to get a bigger sample before I say. I will say once it looks like the poll is dead as far as more people voting.

I've said the first time through, however I tend to read them 3 or 4 times rather than just once.

A Relaxing Stay - NW-DEEYNZYZ9 - Daily Qualified but going to be updated

It went between first time only and sometimes. On my first character in the early levels I read them, but by the time I was in the late 40s I just wanted to get to 60, so I followed the dotted lines and just looked to the right to see how many of 'X' I needed to collect and how many 'Ys' I needed to kill.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

I like to read the story and hear the voice overs properly. I feel a little bad if there's dialog in skirmishes though as I don't want my team to wait for me for that so will just end up skipping that.

I never read any of the text, maybe if i have a hard time figuring out what to do i will open the quest log but other then that its F 1 1 maybe a 2-4 to close the box that's about it, i have limited time to play reading all the bs is time that could be spent actually killing or collecting stuff.

Some people just play because of the mechanics; not necessarily elitists or hardcore players.

    @Topic

I read when I see it's something interesting. When it's absolutely disconnected with the main story or it's something dispensable (Blacklake for example) I just finish it and gg.

But it's not always like that. In some MMOs I really enjoy reading every single quest because the writers make the story be fun, interesting or misterious in its own way, and in others I just don't read the story at all because I don't like it and just enjoy the gameplay. (e.g. WoW. I hate the lore but I love the gameplay)

One day an NPC will tell a story........and in that story they will mention how to enter the secret path that will bypass all the bosses and lead you straight to the final chest. None of you will read but post on these forums as to how impossible it is to beat the final boss.

LOL Some ppl have answered that they "always" read the text. Really guys? You've done the quest on 5 diff chars, but you stop to read it EVERY SINGLE TIME?

I'm calling shenanigans on that. :)

I tend to read through a quest's text carefully the first time I do it, and then often skip over it (and any associated voice-over, some of which are longer than is really necessary) on subsequent characters since I already know what's going on. Similarly with lore, although I do sometimes go back and reread a given entry when a subsequent one provides new insight on something that was unclear at the time.

That said, I have reread some texts for quests I've done more than once, because I was either teamed the first time and hadn't much opportunity for a proper reading, or solo and accidentally closed the window too quickly.

Some of the texts are, unfortunately, rather uninformative, so even a rereading doesn't help. This is especially the case with some 'find X of Y' quests, as a result of which I'm forced to follow the glittering path in order to actually have a chance *to* find them in anything approaching a reasonable time-frame (see: Remorhaz nest daily in IWD)

The game actually does have a fairly decent storyline from 1-60, some quests of which are quite enjoyable/moving. So yes, I do read the quest text on every character.

I read the entire story on my first run through. On my second one I started to read everyone but if I remembered the quest after the first line or two I would skip the rest.

I read them if I go through them for the first time. Then I usually skip.
Unless these are quests given by Flint Vreesh (guy that gives AB quests done in Icewind Pass). I love listening to his voice. (◡‿◡✿)

First time through, sometimes a second time if its been awhile since i did that area or forgotten parts about it. Sometimes everytime if its a funny written dialogue.

I DO read and listen to everything the first time through.
I've missed out on too much cool stuff in games over the years by ignoring that stuff.
    Second time through infinity?
If I enjoyed it the first time.
The Demilitch in the Neverdeath Graveyard is NOT to be missed :)

'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time

LOL I have to admit that I love the demilich, and of course, Old Lenn at the blackdagger ruins. He suffers from like 25 sailor-related diseases all at the same time.

Actually that was my thought sort of. I thought that the numbers of never would be far far higher maybe 50% or more.

I'm not surprised. It's probably the RP community. I can see them reading every time.

Isn't it a dated term for lower back pain? Not really a diagnosis per say just another way of saying my lower back hurts.
