I don't know why this option is there to begin with, but placing this right beneath Remove Enchantment is a big trap for people misclicking too fast. The pop-up window for both of these options are almost identical. it's very easy for players to choose the wrong option.
I have accidentally destroyed a perfect soulforge, and I don't believe I'm the 1st person to do that. I've sent in tickets to help support, but they just told me to be more careful next time. So for those of you who move enchants around different armors, beware not to make the same mistake as they will not replace it.
Have the gear and skills, but lack the friends to play with? Come and apply for Essence of Aggression. We have been here and strong since beta. (Immature, rude, and arrogant people will not be accepted)

Yes, agreed.
Preferably the 'Destroy Enchantment' option should open up a large and distinctive window with a greyed out timer for, say, 5 seconds. This way it would be almost impossible to accidentally destroy enchantments as compared to the current precarious system.

Great support, hands down. Just track the event down in logs and return it ffs, it's like a 1 minute work and it was clearly a mistake. I feel sorry for you, I would enter RAGE mode if they told me to be more careful in that situation.

What you think they actually give people stuff they discarded back? They say this to every single ticket submitted like this, they don't check any logs, they just hit the template "too bad" reply and move on. This applies to any MMO, hell I accidentally upgraded a stupid ioun stone once, wuddya think they told me?
But yeah I'd like to have the "refine" option separated from the "discard" option, which, as far as I'm concerned, should not pop up on equipped items at all.
Simple solution is that to discard or destroy a purple item make a popup where you have to type something like delete to confirm it, sort of like deleting a character.

Yeah that definitely trumps mine I think. I went to refine my waters artifact and discard is right next to refine and I accidentally discarded my waters without paying attention. I really don't understand why this is even an option in the game who in there right mind would ever need is discard artifacts or enchants when they can be reused for refining.. I say eliminate the button altogether to avoid this. I am sure we aren't the only players that have done that.
Ps that was the same response I got a as well and I purchased the water for 1 mil ad at the time plus refining points and marks. This happened just a month shy of module 3 and I never got the waters returned.

Actually this is an even better solution than mine was.
Although I don't see why they even have this option as no-one would want to ever destroy an enchantment or artifact since they can (with the exception of class artifacts) always be used as refine fodder.
What's wrong with a little self-control and taking responsibility for our own actions?
I see no reason for it to move anywhere. There's a confirmation window. That's more than enough. What are we? Children that need Cryptic to hold our hands in case we do something stupid?
There's barely a game around these days that will hold your hand and restore stuff you choose to discard even after being warned for it. They expect a little self-control, responsibility and independent thinking from their players, and rightfully so. We're not 5 year olds who can't read and just press yes because they can. Have some dignity and take control of your own actions. If you screw up, at least stand tall and admit it. It's not like they are trying to trick us into discarding things we don't want to discard.
I know I'm fully responsible for the action. In no ways am I blaming Cryptic for me destroying my own enchantment. I'm not crying and asking for Cryptic to replace my enchantment, I've accepted the fact that it's gone and I'm not getting it back.
However, when you click on Destroy Enchantment, the pop-up window is almost identical to Remove Enchantment that cost gold. These 2 buttons are very close together, and I'm not the first one to have misclicked it. So why not have a different pop-up window, or get rid of this option? Who in their right mind would destroy an armor enchantment?
I'm just trying to help people to not make the same mistake I did, and your post isn't helping anyone by sounding like a teacher telling people off when they've made a mistake. I wish everyone is perfect like you, but we're human.

Perhaps with destroying or discarding items, have a pop-up window that requires players to type in "Delete". Just like deleting a character requires you to do. And just like selling unidentified items, you have an option to not show this warning in the future for that.
Something like this would save a lot of player's making expensive mistake, such as dragging an item into auction house search bar, mouse lags and missed, pop up window comes up, they panic and click discard instead of cancel.

I do agree that the remove and destroy options should be very far apart. I have come very close to destroying a perfect while dozy.
