I'm doing some leveling of GF swordmaster tactician orc, level 60-soon
I stick with exploiting these one skills/feats
Knights Valor (redirects 50% of damage to you). I need to say it is very rare ability to see on GF. I think it is hard to master and better to have DC as a backup, but this skill is amazing if party need defence boost.
Daunting Challenge (10% less damage to party from marked mobs) + Enforced Thread (mass aggroing, shield restoration), but i'm not sure if ET marks are counting for dauting challenge.
Inpiring Leader (5% damage buff to party with Fray) + Into The Fray (speed, ap/stamina regen to party). In some cases i think i need to replace Fray with Iron Warrior, because my shield goes empty in second or two from KV damage even though Shield Talent and Armor of Bahamut are present. Fray gives some fun but it is hard to say about its usefulness.
Situation. GWF is doing unstoppable tab skill in red circle. I activate KV in same time. Do i take half of original damage before resist calculations (before defence, Unstoppable) or after (that includes deflection, with other classes it can be ItC, foxshift )?
I think DV should be area targeting skill, to allow GF decide how and from whom damage should be intercepted. With some percentage of damage passed through shield (next module), how do you see the usage of KV otherwise?
Be careful with Knight's Valor, especially once you reach geared 60 levels. Stupid teammates will insta kill you and I'd be very wary of popping Knight's Valor when a GWF goes looking for red.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

Why a swordmaster? that is not the intercepter paragon.... If you want to tank play Iron Vanguard much better

Swordmaster has Steel Defense perk, which claims you are immune to damage within 5 seconds after Daily and it seems to work with KV. Before SD effect goes away, i activate Iron Warrior encounter to make block a bit more tougher for another few seconds. Daily, KV, IW.
What IV path can offer to support KV ability? I have IV Conq human, not exactly squishest type, but surviving damage from Knight Valor is issue.
its the skil that bugs out. I like to get it out when im taking newer players into dungeons, but I know at some point i will tear my hair out because it goes into lockdown and im forced to relog.
Same case with knights challenge, which is even more annoying on boss fights.
KV is a HIGH risk power, you'll not only get half the damage of your party AND THEIR PETS but also get their aggro.
My advice is: If you really want to do use it, ask for your party to dismiss their pets before the boss fight, and have a good DC on you all the time, if not, don't even try it.
Why I don't use KV, a short essay:
Gear bloat means that most players are relying on LS to sustain in PVP. That is to say that their real defense is not against the damage they are taking but the damage they are putting out. So they will take more damage to put themselves in a position to deal more damage. Which works for everyone but the GF. Worse the GWF gains damage, CC immunity, and mitigation by building determination by taking damage. So they wil volunteer to take damage spike because then they unstoppable and hit a pot if it was a big spike. NONE of these advantages transfer to the GF using KV. It is a good way to suddenly find yourself asking 'Why am I dead all of a sudden?'

Knight's Valor is really good in pvp, if you have a healer and 3 DPS players in your party. Actually, if you fully build PROTECTOR, you also might fight without healer in pvp. This power is absolutely awesome in combination with SUPREMACY OF STEAL.
On the other hand, this power is TOO DANGEROUS to use in PVE, becuase IA monsters do more damage than pvp players. Not a good skill for PVE.
