Tired of the "New Character" grind

Hello :)

So basically, with every new module that comes out, there is a new grind to do on your toons. I am completely in support of this for existing characters and I do want to see it continue. What bothers me is that, whenever I want to make something new, I have to grind ALL OF THE WAY back through every module and it takes way too much time and effort.

What I am proposing is simple:

If you have completed all of the boons for a certain area (Sharandar, Dread Ring, etc.), then you can pay something like 2000 Zen to automatically gain it on a new character. I am a PvP theory crafter at heart and I would love to make a lot more toons, but I can't justify spending months on a project that might fail or 2 hours a day of my life doing boring, repetitive quests. I WILL PAY YOU TO GIVE ME THIS!!! PLEASE!!!

/rant

Thank you for listening :)

I wonder if they could give you some sort of character-bound campaign pack, which would basically give you enough resources to get the 1st 3 boons for one of the campaigns, if you have a certain number of characters that have completed said boons.

Even that would be a great start. I just do not want to do these dang things anymore. 6 times is enough xD

I'm having this problem with the entire game. It's a very linear game. You have one option for quest progression paths. I just tried playing a few different alts. All with the realization that I've played these same quests a couple times over now. It's boring. Extremely boring. I'm looking forward to new classes. But without new content to level those classes up, it's not really worth it.

We definitely need some *official* alternate leveling paths - they could even use the same zones - but a different story that maybe took a different perspective on things - like maybe showing the darker side of Neverember's actions, or us helping out groups that Neverember's people are ignoring, (like maybe the Nashers actually aren't as bad as they are made out to be).

You will grind and you will like it, good sir.

Oh, what's that? You want the last Sharandar boon? See you in 3 months.

We are supposed to be getting new enemies and quests to do with the Dragon cult on all the existing maps for module 4 plus somebody posted screenshots of a HE on Icespire peak so maybe even HE's will be on all the starter maps from module 4 , the only thing is it isn't clear if that is just level 60 content or for all levels , I really hope it is new leveling content , I have done the story 6 times now and I can't take anymore lol.

I like it the way it is. There is already currencies available to buy some of your boons with.

Almost all forms of progress in this game can be bought. I think its important to maintain the integrity of free-to-play/play-to-win.

It would be nice if Neverwinter had a system to boost alternate toons' campaign progress similar to the one used in STO. If one of your toons has completed a Campaign (called Reputation in STO), you may purchase a 'doubler' for use with an alternate toon. After using the doubler, everything you do with that toon in that campaign is worth double toward completion. The cost is a small to moderate amount of campaign currencies. Something like that in Neverwinter would be pretty sweet.

I wouldn't jump on spending Zen on something like this right away, but if there were a few ways to buy an 'alt campaign booster' then I'd be game for it!

See I completely disagree here. If you are free to play you should have to grind. In all honesty I wish I could just go buy compete toons for $300. I do, however, realize that this would be over the top. I don't feel like we are crossing that line asking to not have to grind boons more than once. The first time? You should have to grind for sure. I'm only asking for the toons after the first. No reason to have to do it twice if you give Cryptic money.

That's why I added the caveat that you must have completed the boons w/ X characters in order to qualify. I have 9 level 60's that can access IWD - there are only so many times that I am willing to re-run all the content, just to get to the new stuff, (and I'm hardly someone w/ a lot of characters compared to others). The items used to progress through the campaigns are either available once every 6 days, or purchasable for a pretty large sum off the AH.

2000 zen is how much in $? Months and months of grinding, cannot be covered with 2000 zen. This may sound strange to you, but handing out all boons for free, would encourage those who like to "roll" the current fotm classes. Having no access to boons in the way that you've suggested it, kind of cuts the fotm-ing out a little, which is a good thing. Besides, one can already speed up the campaign progresses quite a bit, there's items that do exactly that.

    ---

So nah, this is a terrible idea. (in my opinion)

Whilst the boon grind does somewhat put me off starting any more new characters or at least playing them for any length of time, I'm still not convinced by the idea of unlocking them for other characters after having done them once, either free or payed.

I can understand making new content somewhat grindy to avoid players completing it in a short time frame but the overall grind gets worse for a new character with each additional module.

I'd rather the requirements for progression in older content got scaled back to something more reasonable within the bigger picture with the introduction of new content. Experience suggests there would be people complaining about this though if they played it through on release at 'full-grind'.

I'd pay 2000 zen for this option.

I completely disagree with this idea. Plus we already have enough people that don't know how play their class. Let's not do anything to increase those numbers.

OK, drop your preconceptions for one minute here. I have 9 level 60 characters - I know how to play every class. There is nothing further I need to learn regarding the current classes, (speaking general gameplay/class mechanics here). I don't think anyone is saying we should get insta-60's - I think it's more like "I get my 10th character to 60, now let me get the 1st 3 boons form a campaign right away, so I can get to IWD and/or any of the new content".

just because you know how to play your class doesn't mean everyone does. I disagree with paying 2000 Zen for an unlock of all boons, grind for it like everyone else does for their character.

On the matter of it being a Zen store purchase, we are in agreement. I'm also not advocating an unlock of all boons. I just wanna be able to take my new/future characters to IWD and later campaigns, sooner.

The idea wasn't to pay 2000 zen and have an insta 60. You'd still need to GET to 60 with your class. Hopefully along the way you learn how to play it. Then once you're 60, you have quicker advancement through the modules that you've already played 3-5+ times.

This and more, the game desperately needs alternative and viable ways of levelling. The foundry while nice, is not an effective replacement.

    I'm sorry, but...

The purpose of the 3 previous campaigns boons requirement was to encourage people to play the previous campaigns so they wouldn't fall into oblivion. What you guys are asking is a way to skip those campaigns with your alts. If you get that, that means no one, except the new players, would ever set foot again in shrandar/DR. And since you can exchange AD for ZEN I doubt no one would ever buy that shortcut instead of actually play said zones.
