Depends on the instance, i do Opvp more than anything atm and its great fun but sometimes an instance will have no players so leave the map and re-enter until you find one with more action, if you have a friend you leave first and see what instance it was then one of you enter and see if you have changed instance.

And once domination starts people usually pile in anyway lol.

Open world PVP is usually empty for numerous reasons.

First of all, there are way too many instances. Second, you cannot switch instances at will, hence large gatherings/fights are a hassle to organize and rarely occur naturally.

Lastly, there is little to no reward for participating in these activities. If they have a reward structure similar to GG, it would be a big improvement

You are wrong, the rewards are actually decent, it works the same as gauntlgrym i think where if you are high on leaderboards you get a good reward. I have got a purple item many many times worth 10-50k AD and around 800 black ice rank 5 enchants, potions and other items all in 1 go plus you get a decent amount of raw black ice when farming the motherload i think i got near 3k one day.

Well, black ice value right now is different for different people I guess. Some people have been over this whole black ice fad and forsaw that it is just a stop gap for module 4 and not necessarily tier 3 gear. If you value black ice, I guess you can make an argument for the rewards.

I was thinking more for AD since you can make an estimate of 2000ad - 8000ad in the same amount of time in GG (as well as account-wide glory for that new warlock character everyone will soon be making)

Just go back to caer-konig or the other area then re-enter but like i said you wont know if its a different instance so a good idea is to look around at the gate before leaving and look for some AFK players, remember there name so when you re-enter if they aren't there you are probably in a new instance or an easier way is to have a friend with you and one of you leaves and looks at the others instance( it tells you right under there icon top left) then once you are both back at caer-konig one of you enter and look at the instance. Also if you have the patience you could go to caer-konig and just wait a few mins then click "change instance" that will usually put you in a new instance in IW or DV once you do that in the town.

You can open the map and see what instance you are in at anytime. You can also do a \who Icewind and see how populated different instances are before you try zone hopping.

The only time you will see anyone in the PvP zone and they aren't doing dailies it will be a perma TR or a group of people looking to gank people doing dailies.

Welcome to every open world PvP ever.
