Tell your friends to help you raid castles to get better gear, they will need the T2 gear as well after all. Mod 1 & 2 are substantially easier to run through for boones when you have one of the really nice gear sets. Mod 3 has much harder creatures because it introduces a new far more powerful armor set that would make Mod 3 too easy otherwise.

Also Mod 3 did not raise the level cap above 60, but now you can continue to earn XP and when you would normally level up you will get a nice bonus prize instead.

If you want you could probably buy a Grand Regent armor set for about 1,000,000 AD in the AH if you and your friends don't want to do castles for T2 gear.

A "fresh" level 60 will have something like a 5k-6k GS, (not counting special feats like the one for GFs that doubles their power). That number is if you are using green gear. You can buy blue gear for about 1k ADs off the AH, which can bring your GS up to almost 9k. Now run Dread Ring dailies and lairs a few times, and you should at least get 1 or 2 pieces of purple gear. That should pretty much bring you to 10k+, and that's not counting all the bonus stats from the boons.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would complain about being denied access to an area that they arn't ready for.

The requirements are to keep you alive. In the same way that you cant enter zones under leveled. Or that epic dungeons have a minimum gear rating. In fact, pretty much everything in the game is restricted in some way or another. Be it zones, dungeons, or skirmishes. So It seems rather funny that this one area is worthy of such debate.

Where are the complaints of the entry requirements for castle Never? Or Malabogs? Where are the demands to remove the key costs and GS requirements for Valindras tower? Are these honestly places that should let just anyone in? Why then, should Icewind be any different?

As others have said, the requirements are there to keep you from getting murdered. If you simply arn't at the needed level...why force the issue? The only one who will get punished, will be yourself.
