Yeah I have long since given up on trying to switch between pve and pvp on one toon so my Archer is strictly pve. I always aim to take as little damage as possible in dungeons and skirmishes. Easier as ranged, yes, but there are times when you have aggro and have to do some kiting or redirecting back to GF if there is one. Besides I don't keep max distance to my target because my build revolves around Combat Advantage so there are times when I will be in the thick of things and more defence will definitely help my cause.

I went through the whole Power, Power, Power. I like being well rounded much better.

Yeah i like being well rounded up too ( well i dont are much about deflect and regen though). I sure like my 37% dr (soon to be 39%) paired with the ls it does allow to dps better without having to be running around. But with that i still like to max out the power as much as i can, as once the dri is capped, crit soft capped and have ample recovery not much more to drop gs on. As defensively i dont feel going over 2.5k defense and around 12% ls is worth it, just stack more hp from there.

What is the soft cap for crit? Mine is currently at 3.4k in the DL set, which I find is a good balance in the important stats for the archery tree. I'll prolly switch out to CBI set once my main-hand and belt are at legendary, although that could take months :P

I don't have any enchants for crit or armpen. I don't use nearly the amount of Azures that was speculated above (I think I use two). I like Brutals and Savages for Defensive slots.

The gear alone usually gives you plenty of Armpen and Crit, plus once you feat your crit chance you should be good to go.

There are already links on where diminishing returns are at. I'm well above that point, but it's not something I aimed for. It's around 3300 iirc. HP and Power (to my knowledge) are the only stats that don't have diminishing returns.

To be honest, my defense is a bit high. I should swap out about 800 defense for straight HP, but I'm lazy.

But then again, if I did that I'd have too high DPS and my damage output would lower. I've found 13-15K DPS to be the sweet spot (for me, and the folks I play with). Lots of variables there.

yeah i maybe estmated too high as i didnt know u were using defense packs..... but i mostly was just accounting the number of defense slots that were available thus making 3k defense easy to achieve.

Yeah i agree about crit and arpen really i just see use to radiants (pow or hp) , as the rest is achievable without enchanting... maybe a dark somewhere for the ls if ur running low as unfortunately most of our sets dont get any.

crit starts to diminish a bit harshly around 2.5-2.7k but with extra severity from feats and p vorpal its still worth to go up to 3k imho. If u then have extra severity from boons and companions then 3.3-3.5k is a good mark, but beyond 3.3k its like 450 points to get 1% cc... not worth it anymore, as power is gona give way better returns for those points.

    This thread isn't very helpful.
Your just showing off your character.

I mean, its nice to see peoples cool toons and all. But the summary of this thread should be "i got the best gear out there so hunter/ranger is fun to play'.

I mean in your feats set up you go for 5 points into Predatory Action(dailies do 5% more dmg) and only 1 point into stamina regen. But in your archery tree you put points into stamina regen but not into action point gain.

All the power to ya. I was just looking for some insight on how to play an archery spec.

The AP gain feat from the Archery tree is pittance and should not be taken ahead of the Stamina gain feat. He has chosen Predatory Action because he runs with Seismic Shot as his main daily I bet. This build is all about pumping out as much damage from distance as possible. It is just one option. Ximae has gone another route as Archer, focusing on Combat Advantage and one that I use as well as it is more engaging I find.

Pretty much this. Seismic shot is great, as is just counting Disruptive shot as another encounter. Either way more damage makes me happy.

Please tell me how I can help. I've been ranged archer spec since this class was first released.

I would change the thread, but I don't think I have the best gear out there. Also, I found HR very fun to play while I was getting it geared up (I am still getting it geared up).

Also if you'd read the thread, you'd see that this thread was started back when there wasn't an Archery path. There is one or two pics of my HR as it was progressing. This thread was NOT started as a "Let me show you my cool HR" thread. It was started to share my love of the archery aspect of this great class.

If you have questions about why I chose what, I'll do my best to answer them. If you've come here simply to say "your just showing off your character" please move along.
