What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Amount of client crashes went up exponentially in mod3

As title says, my client crashes at least 3 times per 1-3 hours of gameplay.
It wasn't like this in previous areas.

There does seem to be a memory-leak. I get a blue screen after every thirty minutes or so. I should hope the Cryptic Log Uploader is working, but with a blue-screen... :\

System Specs. Always supply System Specs.

Saying there is a problem without supplying system specs is like telling the doctor you bad over the phone. :p

My client crashes every 5-15 minutes since the crappy update to module 3. Game was perfect before. But since module 3 I can't play the game. Anyone maybe has a hint what I can do?

What I have done so far:

    - Installed the steam client -> still crashing
    - Uninstalled both clients and reinstalled and reloaded the complete game -> still crashing
    - Turn up or down or graphic options including the new one with the physical objects -> still crashing
    - Checked firewall and antivir, all OK -> still crashing
    - Tried with and without on demand patching clients -> still crashing
    - Deleted gamepreferences file

Help please! :-( I don't want to have to quit the game because it's permanently crashing after several ingame minutes...
By the way: It seems it has something to do with the combats. Because it mostly crashes in combats, but not always.

    My system:
    Notebook Lenovo y560p
    Intel I7-2630QM
    6GB RAM
    Radeon Mobility HD 6570M
    Windows 7 64 Bit
Newest drivers, newest directx, newest net framework

Screenshot of the windows logged error of the game client crash:

Windows 7 with all official updates/3GB Ram.
Nvidia GEforce 9600/512MB - with most current drivers (and that dumbasstupid "NVidea GE Force Experience" app - that I hate but (apparently) cannot/not allowed to forego.)

Beyond that, nothing else matters unless they (the Devs) want a full system status, including all installed drivers and software for *everything* (which I'm happy to submit - if they ask).

I suspect a memory leak, I am not saying it is Cryptic's fault (there can be a lot of reasons for memory leak). However, other than Microsoft official updates I've not installed any new software or drivers, save the Cryptic updates (Neverwinter, Star Trek Online and Champions Online). (I do "real" work on my Mac, the PC is only for games: Cryptic stuff and that's about it).

System ran swimingly up until a week or so ago (I'm sorry that I cannot specifically say it was since Mod 3 update on Live, possibly an update before than, not sure). What happens is playing the game as usual - approximately 30 minutes into the game: blue screen/memory-dump. (Officially: between 20 minutes and 40 minutes timeframe.)

This does not happen on any other app (including other Cryptic Games). This is a similar/same issue I had with Neverwinter client during closed beta/open beta time frame. They fixed it back then, and this might be a completely separate issue, but identical results (in appearance anyway) right down to the timeframe before crash.

System specs... whatever. Had NO problems with the game crashing prior to MOD 3,now it's like clockwork every 30-40 mins.
It doesn't take a mindreader to guess the cause. Does it.

And I have not crashed once since Module 3.
Specific hardware (and driver versions) are what cause most issues. Module 3 may have caused issues for you but the issues revolve around your specific system set-up.

Of course its my set-up,it wouldn't be the game code, silly me.All my drivers are upto date, all my other software works fine and nothing else has changed with my set-up other than Mod 3 being downloaded...

I'm happy that your set-up works fine, mine however and other peeps are a different kettle of fish.

Which is why it is imperative to always tell the developers what your set up is so they can figure out why the code doesn't work with your set up.

If you want any software performance and stability to be resolved the first and most important thing to supply is system specs because every computer is different and knowing what hardware is conflicting with the game code is the only way to resolve most issues.

Point at the game code all you like, the truth is that 9/10 times the game code isn't working with specific hardware. That doesn't mean the code doesn't have to get changed but it certainly is a hell of a lot easier to fix conflicts in the code when you know what hardware is conflicting with the code.

These kind of issues are usually caused by drivers or other Windows "services" apps. However, it's also likely something that the Neverwinter app interacts with (like video drivers, DirectX and all that). It's *possible* something changed in Neverwinter in mod 3 that causes the other software to go wonky. That don't mean it's the Neverwinter fault.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were some new Windows update that is the actual cause of the crashing. Neverwinter is a resource-intensive app and pushes the entire system as far as it can - and this is where any weaknesses in the (entire) system are revealed.

As for my system: all defaults on everything (and described as above) except one additional thing: I have all that aero nonsense turned off. I have the Visual Effects and Tools options set to "Performance" which makes my system look all Windows 95-ish (which is fine for me as I don;t have a Windows PC, I have a Cryptic MMO PC). LOL
