I'm an old rpg player from Uruguay, and after arriving at level 60 I got a couple of questions: I started to receive purple armor/weapons/jewels... but from time to time I found some blue gear that it's more 'recommended' by the game. And that blue gear also gives me more 'gear points'. Do I have to stick to the blue gear considering the better values or I have to try to complete an epic set?
If I discard epic gear from my inventory, can I reclaim it later or is it just gone?
Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your 1st 60!
So, from a strictly stat-perspective, it is possible to get blue gear with a better selection of stats, or even with more stat points, but purple gear is worth more toward your overall gear score.
If you discard gear, it is simply gone - you cannot reclaim it. If you have any level 60 purple gear that you don't want, go to the market area in Protector's Enclave, (called the Seven Sons Coster Market), and look for the salvage vendor, (has an anvil with a green flame/aura near him). If you walk close to that vendor, you can then open your inventory, right click the piece of purple gear you don't want, and choose 'salvage'. You will get some rough astral diamonds by doing this.
Another option, if the gear isn't bound, is to go to the auction house, (or open it via the gavel icon on the top bar), and sell the item on the auction house.
Again, regarding gear - you *can* get by just fine w/ blue gear, but you'll hit a point where you can't improve your gearscore anymore with it, and not many blue weapons or armor allow for slotting the special enchantments, so there's that limitation as well.
Anyway, good luck and congrats again!
EDIT: Another important aspect of purple gear is that they can contain set bonuses, which you only get if you have 2 or 4 pieces of a set equipped - so also check for those.

Thanks bioshrike! Lots of useful info. I'll keep my purple gear then... (must buy more inventory slots :P)

If you haven't already, use your second character slot. Just pick a class you think you may want to play later, and try to get them to at least level 11. You can then use them for extra storage space, and just invoke on them and run leadership tasks at your leisure - you'll be able to level them up this way, (eventually), while also doubling your bag space...

Great idea! Maybe one of those SO beloved Clerics... so much required on any dungeon group.
I very much enjoy my clerics - got 2 to 60. Don't underestimate their ability to deal damage, either - just don't forget those all important heal & buff skills!
