Can't seem to get a black ice pick?

So I went into Icewind Dale with my primary char, killed some monsters and did the intro to the vendors quest. I then went into Icewind with my second char, did some pvp and subsequently ran into the dwarf that gave me a black ice pick. When I went back to him with my first char though he has no quest bubble and just tells me "goodbye" lol. What did i miss or do wrong? Anyone have an idea?

    I only got the pick after completing some of the quest line. Specifically the one guy asks you go talk to the guy in the keep. That guy gives you the pick and some quests to get black ice. If you don't have the quest to go talk to the guy in the keep then that is probably the issue.

    Yeah I thought I talked to everyone again in the Dale but you're probably right I must have overlooked somebody. Thanks kindly!

    OK I see now. It's when you sign up for one of the two guilds you are offered a pick upon completion. I must have inadvertantly dropped the quest first go around. When I broke the contract and re-upped it then I got the quest to go to the keep and get a pick.

    You may have been like me ones and went out without picking up the quest. There was a delay upon picking up the previous one and having that quest show so that it could easily be missed.

    I used to have a hammerstone pick then it disappeared...I have spent hours trying to find another black ice pick since (including sign-up to the two divisions) yet cannot find one.Play in the icewind isn't very good when you can't mine. Frustrating!!!

    You can't get one, and I can't get rid of one. It just sits there wasting a bank slot for eternity.
