PvP matchmaking

Hi fellow NW players, mostly the ones who are into PvP.

I've been playing PvP here for a long time and quite much (since open beta; not bragging, just to give a time scale), and all the time very casually. No real premades, no r10s or perfects, just for fun from 1 to 10 matches a day and from time to time with a couple of friends. Now, after I had a little break and the matchmaking system was implemented, I've played some matches during last couple of weeks. Been winning, been losing, had some tight ones and so on, but lately the matches have turned out to be very "competitive", so to say.

I've made some wins during last weeks, so I've probably gained some rating. Now, I seem to face full perfect/r10 players, half or even full premades on 4 matches out of 5. I have lesser/normal enchants and r5-7s myself, with which I did well for almost a year. Of course the game has changed, the class balances have changed, but I feel very powerless against players who just outgear me (at least on my cleric, lol).

The problem is not that others have better gear or are more experienced players, the problem is that (probably) due to the matchmaking system I am continuosly put against them. And since my teammates may have far better gear as well, I feel like I am the burden in the group.

Any feelings/suggestions/discussion? I'd like to keep the playing at least semi-casual, so the first answer wouldn't be joining in a PvP-guild.

Are you queueing with friends? If yes, stop doing that to reduce the probability of meeting a premade. The matchmaking tends to put premade vs premade whenever possible. Queueing alone will range from disastrous games to stomping the other team, but from my experience, if you fully pug alone you have most chances to play with less geared people.

Other than this, you will still meet premades and still meet rank 10 people. There's no avoiding it. The only true "solution" is to match them in gear if you want to compete, because very few (if any) full-decked PvPers are such bad players that you could make up the difference from normal to perfect and Rank 7 to 10 with your skill. There is a very significant gap between Rank 7s and Rank 10s. Probably not what you want to hear, but this is the situation.

Very true and summed up nicely. To the OP, what she said ^^.

I run 2-4 matches a day (often two), because the Glory rewards are so low that I do not consider it worth my time. However, I recently spoke with one of our Officers who runs PVP all-day-every-day. He says that the ELO is either not working or is turned so low that it's almost not relevant.

It's rare to have a truly competitive match. I'm either totally stomped or the one doing the stomping.

I believe this to be true, 1 out of 10 matches are actually competitive. I'm either 5-20 or 20-1 on kills.
