"Purple HAMSTER!"

edited May 2014 in General Discussion (PC)
I am having a really hard time with understanding one of the voice actors.

Whenever I fight Red Caps in Sharandar do they say things like:

"Giant strike!", most likely it is a Giant Soul who is saying this
"Watch you bleed!", possibly a Powery
"Black magic!", often being said by Witherers

and then there is one who says something like "Purple HAMSTER!" in a fake deep voice. The voice itself is funny, but I honestly have no idea what is actually being said.

Please help me out, I am sure it is not what I am hearing, but I just cannot figure out what is being said. :o
Stay frosty.

Why would this be a dig against CWs and their shield?!?

I guess you are joking...

    Wither your limbs!

What I do mishear is "red apple curse".

Also, at some point I swear the Shocktroop Devils in Dread Ring go "ribbit ribbit" as you hit them.

"Even though my goat is dead, I will help the adventurer" - that quest giver dwarf outside the gate of Helm's Hold itself.

I know what he is supposed to say in that line, but I just can't hear it as anything else.

I thought the witherers were yelling, "Blood magic!" since they dip their caps in the blood of their victims. Thorns also say, "Thorn strike!" and they say, "Watch you bleed!" in a deeper voice.

Just for grins I tried playing NW on a Win7 laptop instead of my normal Win2k laptop, and the sound is a *lot* muddier on Win7. It makes dialogue really hard to understand; on 2k it sounds crystal-clear by comparison. Apparently Win7 likes to resample sounds to a standard rate, which causes clarity issues -- 2k just plays it at the rate at which it was saved.

They each have two combat statements that are unique to the type of red cap that they are. The one that sounds like "purple HAMSTER" is actually "bramble curse" and I believe the red cap Thorn's say this.

I like all those wonderful things they say. Especially the dread servitors that greet you with "glorious day!". So nice and friendly, even when trying to kill me!

I always felt bad for my little Galeb Duhr.
It sounds like he is saying "I now know fear."
It's really (apparently) "I know no fear." - but I will forever feel like I scarred him for life. :p

I believe it is "I know no fear", meaning the Galeb Duhr is fearless, which he should be.

I was not sure what you were referring to. I actually thought they were saying "Glorious Death". But ever since you have mentioned it do I hear "Glorious Day", too. It is some much more fun now.

Stick around it a little while and you will hear it. I kept trying to figure out what else it could be after first hearing it. He could be saying "swallow this", but that isn't really any better, especially after one has been hearing him say "ball juice"...
