Lately I notice a very problematic trend while Dom PUGing. The fact that you often end up with 7-9k GS team VS obviously stronger team is not the problem. The team setup however is. First time it happened I didnt pay much attention to it but then it happened again and again. The game puts a party of 3 armored melee classes together. When you have 2 GWFs + a GF ( the other 2 classes really dont matter much at this point ) VS 1 GWF/GF + 2 HRs + 2 DCs.. well something is wrong. I give that example because that is exactly what I have seen more than once. Such a match cant be contested. Regardless of your class/GS/player ability you get destroyed by 3 knockdown machines.
As a side note - folks it would be nice if you could refrain from taking spawned healing pots when on full health - especially when a half dead teammate is right behind you heading for said potion.
Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.

No it did not get changed.
The queue never cared about team compositions. I have faced teams such as 3 GWFs, 1 Cleric and 1 CW when my team is made up of 2 HR, 2 TR and a GF. Doesn't take a lot of understanding to know that there is no hope for the latter composition to win.
It has always been like that. It used to be 100% random. Now it will group based on the Elo System but it still does not try to balance team compositions.
That right there is a big oversight on Cryptic's part.
There is not a large enough player base to sort teams man. They can't even turn the ELO up because que times increase to unacceptable levels.
Just something we all have to deal with. Mod 3 might bring in some new players and bring back some old ones if we are lucky but I'm losing hope rapidly. Until then, play a GWF, you'll do fine.
About the taking pots thing, there are far more important things the pugs need to thinking about in PvP, (such standing on the **** point, and getting OFF the homecap). Baby steps man, baby steps.

Aye, waiting 30mins to get into a match was a pain. And my main is infact a GWF, a toon that is just a notch below the very best when it comes to gear but it still gets melted by an uneven party setup. I gotta say that the PVP imbalance became more noticeable ever since I got my brand new GF to 60.

*lol*
Yeah, some players are not very clever. Some team mates will overtake you on their mount and run straight through them. Even after a fight where you took all the damage and helped them will some still run through them and deny their team access to it.
It does however make sense to deny the enemy access to it, but it requires looking at your team's health bars and looking behind you. I only do it when my team seems healthy and I know we have put several enemy players into deep health.
I look at my team as if I was playing a game of poker: sometimes does one get a good hand, and other times does one get HAMSTER and is forced to bluff or to fold.

I cant see why low player population would have anything to do with sorting teams based on class. Sure if there are only certain classes quing then you have a bunch of non-tanks fighting other non-tanks. But when a mix of classes ques the system should sort them in a balanced way among the teams.

if any of your conjecture is true, it would speak more about the number of pvpers to the overall neverwinter player base. i would imagine that as far as numbers go, they fluctuate for a variety of reasons. considering that there seems to be an increase in gold spammers (different ones, not many of the same), i'd say that's an indication of decent player base numbers. why else would more gold spammers be attracted to a dying MMO? so if there is a deficit in queue numbers, it's caused by a lack of pvpers. it could also be not a broad enough spectrum of ratings during peak times and too broad of a spectrum at non-peak times.
without having access to actual numbers, all you can do is assume. and assumptions are not truths.

I feel like this is pretty much what I said. People not in que = population problem. Because there is not enough population queuing.
I understand what you are saying, and why (you feel the PvE player base is large and healthy, and the PvP base is much smaller hence the que problems).
I was remiss in having not stated that I was talking specifically about the PvP population, I assumed it was implied as this is a thread dedicated to PvP discussion.
So, once again, it's a population problem most likely. I am hopeful that MoD 3 will bring in more PvP players, and bring back some of the old PvPers that left the game.
Sorry if I offended any PvE players by suggesting there was a population issue. I have heard around the forums and in game that it can be difficult finding a party for dungeons and whatnot so I assumed this equated to a low population on the PvE side as well. But I have no experience with this so I do not know for sure.
As for the gold farmer thing, it's pretty normal for them to ramp up their advertising before a large content update, I don't think it directly correlates to current population. But it may.
Sales have gone up for sure. Is this just current players gearing the new toons they just leveled over double exp weekend, or has there already been an influx of new players in anticipation of MoD3? As you said, there is no way to tell.
