I'm sorry to say but cryptic is really pathetic with there security. they fail to p[rotect there users against scamm and they fail to implement anti-hack software probably due to insufficient fund.

When we users do a report spam on the site they say to post on the forum and when we do a report ingame it's send to a black hole..

WHAT A JOKE CRYPTIC GAME STUDIO.. ORE ASCII-GAME STUDIO WOULD BE MORE SUITABLE FOR YOU NUMBSKULLS

Here's a tip, when it's a joke, you laugh, not whine on the forums.

I am sorry to inform but this thread is going to bring zero results, you did want to attempt to gain some sort of result did you not ?
I am not even sure what the issue is/was, not sure anyone will be able to help you if they even wanted to.

Try the honey vs vinegar analogy.

May I ask what it is EXACTLY you think is the joke?
Spamming does not in any way compromise security afaik.

Truth to be told, nobody can protect you from scams. Only you can. They can perhaps undo it, but this is not the same as protection. When you have not learned this lesson yet then you may learn it the hard way.

the OP is the main reason this world sucks so bad as a whole right now. It is always someone elses fault and never theirs. I have been gaming for 14 yrs and NEVER been hacked once. (knock on wood) That is because I (ME) and noone else looks after myself and doesn't do stupid things that get accounts hacked.

1: DO NOT BUY GOLD OR ITEMS FROM ANY WEBSITE OTHER THEN THE GAMES
2: DO NOT GO TO SITES THAT OFFER BOT/CHEATS/EXPLOITS
3: MAKE SURE YOUR PASSWORD IS DECENT AND NOT SOMETHING STUPID LIKE GOD
4: DON'T SHARE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH ANYONE NOT EVEN YOUR BEST FRIENDS
5: MAKE SURE YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE IS UP TO DATE AND A GOOD ONE not one of those free pos's.

Learn to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF Cryptic is not your babysitter. These Gold sites make a huge profit because of idiots who buy gold/items from them and then they steal your account lol so you get double screwed. YOUR FAULT not CRYPTICS.

Free Antivirus programs are fine. In fact there usually better as they don't contain all the extra junk the paid versions come with to make you think you didn't waste your money.

    This......
I've only been hacked once and that was when rift first launched and their database was hacked into and a large number of players had their usernames and passwords stolen.

We all have seen the spammers, and have avoided them. Then you, being l33t, get a "tell" in game inviting you to their "gold mine". Taking advantage of an offer to you and ONLY you, the l33tist, you got what in the back of your mind told you it would never happen.

I too received a "tell", instead I contacted in game support and received a reply something like, " yes we know of this and are taking steps to end this type of intrusion". Quit blaming support, they too take it seriously.

Many others reminded you, protect yourself, protect your account. In game support is doing it just as they should, they even post on how to avoid these "deals".

Better than nothing. And "some" may even come close to being as good as some of the big-name American "bloatware" that is out there.
There is at least one non-bloatware one that consistently wins honors and zero-day virus detection challenges. Worth EVERY penny.

This award winning Anti-Virus provider: It's not AVG

I had a pending e-mail waiting on hotmail from Lancashire Constabulary, a .dll broke on AVG premium 2014 (thats this year?) and when I contacted support at AVG Czech republic they asked me to uninstall the product and reinstall it.

I was shocked to watch as each file queried for deletion reported "File not found". Ofc when I had re-installed AVG and checked my e-mails I read the response from Lancs Constrabulary asking me to check with my Anti-Virus provider and my bank.

Needless to say some people/companies make Non-Disclosure Agreements an instant breach of contract yet to be proven.

Also; AVG rolled back their Live Support Chat to Massachusetts, with different operating hours. I guess that's why Cryptic can be blamed but not proven to be at fault :)

On a side note, the most easily compromised systems in gaming/metagaming are voice comms.

I took a trip round Syndicate with an EVE Corp called Red Core in Paradigm Shift Alliance, our escort pointed to a guy and said "That's the local nub" our corp ceo said "who HAMSTER xxxx?", escort said "yea", Stu Ryan then joined the alliance as CEO of a smaller corp, and a couple of months into our rotation round Stain rj twins (I was a director with this guy as recruitment director) hacked the TS server on Stu Ryan's second pc and started mooching around, got caught and the other director's disbanded into Dust-514 and onto their other mains.

Not worth taking that risk anymore, most of the "Pllipino's" end up being White English or White American based on their twitch streams from other games, and it's getting old.

Somewhere there is some overweight white 40-something working in the PC industry and suddenly a tonne of 19-24yr olds "metagame at the highest level" like the gold-selling account-backhacking bunch.

Gaming is still a hobby for most of us.

account security is your responsibility. if you suspect that your account has been compromised, you should follow the guidelines as suggested by PWE in this knowledge base article. you may also review this thread for tips on how to prevent getting "hacked".

we understand that having this happen to you is quite a heavy experience and we want you to use the utmost care, safety and security with your game account information so this doesn't occur.

we are closing this thread because taking your anger out on the company isn't the right action to take. if your account is compromised, it becomes a support issue. beyond that, it may become a learning experience as harsh as that might sound. you can send your reports using the support website link in my signature.

thank you and we're sorry that you're going through this experience.
