This has become a daily habit when someone accuses people who open Rusted Iron Lockboxes for cheating.
This kind of behavior (accusing people of cheating), as at least 1 moderator here pointed out, is against the forum rules, but furthermore, it's insulting people who have found a legit way to invest their zen and AD and get profit.
I think one of the moderators might consider writing a sticky note with an explanation saying that the people who get a lot of epic mounts and companions are doing it legit. The amount of cries from random people here, jumping into conclusions, is astonishing.
To those who still don't realize that it's POSSIBLE to get 3 or more epic mounts in 10 seconds: a lot of people open Iron Rusted Lockboxes (which no longer drop from dungeons, but can be bought on AH, for example) because they have the best loot value. Meaning - anything that drop from them can be resold on AH, with minimal loss. There is, however, a chance to get something valued for 300k or 500k AD - meaning, epic companion and mount.
Also, the rumor saying that you have a 1% chance to get an epic drop from a box is false. That chance is much higher.
This concept is very simple:
When you open, say, 10 boxes, there's a chance you won't get anything epic, and you'll receive stuff you don't like. But if you do the math, you'll realize that if you could afford and opened 100 boxes, and sold everything that dropped out of them, you'd get a lot of profit. The key word here is "afford."
The people who win a ton of epic mounts and companions OPEN THOUSANDS OF BOXES. Why? Because they have bought zen, or sold epic loot. They started opening lockboxes in numbers - first maybe 100, then more. And they were getting more and more profit they could use for buying more keys. LEGIT.
Why is there an admin message showing someone has received 5 epic mounts in 10 seconds? Because they kept opening large batches of Iron Rusted Lockboxes. LEGIT.
If you look at the facts, you'll know that this is not any scam:
- thousands of Iron Rusted Lockboxes being sold on AH daily
- people are usually opening Rusted Lockboxes, and not the new boxes (Unearthed) even though they drop artifacts and Emperor Beetles; this is because the loot from Iron Rusted Lockboxes has a better drop value for stuff that's resellable for a decent sum.
- the price for Iron Rusted Lockboxes have gone up noticeably on AH - they used to go for a few AD a box, now they are worth 30x as much as a few weeks ago.
So, what is causing people to think it's a scam, even though it's not? The admin messages. Who's to blame? The people who open the boxes? Perhaps because they are opening them too fast, but then again... the admins could set the message to display less frequently as well.
I would like to point out that I'm not defending myself here. I have actually never opened an Iron Rusted Lockbox. I did not profit from opening boxes, either, but some of my friends are doing this and I know it's a legit way of getting AD. Considering you round up enough zen or AD to start up buying the keys and open up big batches.
Bull****s. I have opened 300 lockboxes and nothing. Wasted money. It s not even worth for the tarmalune. Its easily possible to have profite for millions in other ways

What is the source of your comments? You say "people" open 1000 boxes with 1000 keYS legit
Yet how do you know these things? How can you prove it to us? As far as I am concerned you are simply saying
anything you want to say with no way of backing it up.
There is no way these people are buying ZEN from Cryptic, then using in-game exchange market to turn that ZEN into AD at the going rate, then purchasing 1000 keys from somewhere. Or just straight up buying the keys from Cryptic with their ZEN. 1000 keys would cost them what $1000 dollars, and you think they can actually turn around and sell everything for a profit. No way pal, this isn't texas holdem where with skill you can turn a profit, its a video game with a low drop rate RNG, there is no way it turns a profit, otherwise Cryptic would HAVE TO lower the drop rates.
And this thread is slowly turning into another fest of accusations. Am I TELLING you to open them? NO. I'm saying that your claims are insulting people who have found a legit way to get AD and aren't hurting anyone. Cryptic is getting money from keys, and smart people get easy AD.
yeah, we're not going to have an accusatory back and forth thread about lockbox rewards.
as i stated in the other thread that got closed, PWE is aware of the accusations concerning this issue, however it is highly unlikely that there will be any announcements about hotfixes and there will not be any public lynching of individuals if there even is anyone to lynch.

Why? Its not as though someone can cash out their chips at the end.
