I'll get the constructive criticizim out of the way quickly and then get to the good idea.Yes I know that an mmo has to be a certain amount of a grindfest to keep new content interesting and challenging.But a casual starting out player may want more choices right from the start.Fun choices.My idea comes from a short lived Aussie game called Fury.It had a map where you had to get a crystal from the enemy base and take it to your own.There were 4 crystals and an interesting weave of ramps and trees.The game unfortunatly closed because of the high system req s at the time and reports of a bad memory leak and other bugs.The pvp was a blast tho.Here is my idea that can be modified in several ways for even more fun.Place a crystal at each end of the domination map fo someone to run to the other end.A neat variation on capture the flag eh?Now for the funner ideas.Have certain player powers affect the crystal when not held.for example a GF could punt it (mideval football ftw).Another variation is players could have certain abilites while holding the crystal( for example a rogue could phase shift aka dodge while holding it).Yet another variation would be the properties of the crystal itself.For example it could become unstable and cause an increasing dot on the player over time forcing to drop and not pick up for a set period.As far as making new maps it would be as simple as adding the map to the que list maybe calling it Black Ice domination.This idea could also be applied to open world pvp maybe having advantages given to the faction or player for bringing one to base.Maybe having the game check the staus of the battle and spawn crystals appropiatly.It's an evolved next gen idea on some of the classics and in it's simplist form would take rather little programming.Think about it.
I like the idea and name for it maybe you could pass the crystal too with a 10 second cooldown to re-throw from catch maybe a certain damage threshold makes you drop (fumble) it meaning that once you drop the crystal another player or you has to pick it back up and can toss it to another team mate using the reticule.
Have the crystal throw occupy the 3rd item slot.
the dot and extra ability would further bring home the idea that black ice is dangerous to handle while still benefiting the carrier somehow perhaps maybe with a buff.
highest point total for the spawned crystals to the base wins.
