I just got a crit with it totaling 45k. This is without Twin Blade Storm, no buffs/debuffs, and only a lesser vorpal. How much could it potentially do if I unleash it with all the proper buffs and such added in?
Edit: Make that 86k. I will never call this power useless again.
PVE or PVP? What mobs? Whats your crit at? I would bet that it doesnt do this all the time. I had it specced for about 3 months and rarely got any good damage out of it. Its also slightly difficult to aim and it travels so slow, a termite could out dodge it. The slow isn't long enough and given the cost it should really snare/slow mobs and other players in pvp much longer and much slower. Its a paragon path daily with 100% AP and its average damage and usability does not equal that cost.
The only good part to CSH is that it does have a pretty HAMSTER animation and looks cool throwing the electric ball out. Props to that.
PVE
The endlessly respawning zombies in Dread Ring are what I tested on
85% severity plus Lesser Vorpal
If you know the actual trigger, it works every time. It's best used on massive groups, like what CW and GWF are so fond of pulling. I'm talking 20+.
And I didn't mention my crit chance because so far, I've only seen either none or all of the hits crit.
Are you Archery Spec? It definitely helps with the crit rating. (Can't remember offhand if it ate the autocrit endcap though...) And yeah, the thing people don't take into account is that CSH is apparently uncapped in the targets it can hit. So in the right scenario it can hit stupid hard. The thing that makes it virtually unusable to me is that the projectile disappears doing no damage entirely too often. If it hits a slight crack in the floor, a piece of dungeon dressing, or pretty much anything it's gone instantly.
I found it worked best when I cast it in the middle of groups (probably because I'm usually Combat spec). It has a surprisingly large PBAoE, and in melee the slow moving projectile is actually not a bad thing.
Oh, and the slow is completely f'ing useless. As in I can barely even notice they're slowed. The individual damage it does isn't great either, although I was never able to tell for sure if it can hit a single add more than once or not. Tough to parse that.
