Server disconnect during pvp then leaver penalty - WAI?

Pretty much the thread title. Joined PVP - server not responding so after 120 seconds of waiting I switched characters back to the same one. Thrown out of pvp map and given a 30 min queue ban.

No big deal, not QQing, but is this working as intended? or should I file a bug against it?

    Thanks for the reply. Was wondering whether it was the time length or the log out/log in that triggered it - either way I'm sure it was annoying for the rest of the party in there.

    Don't think it was patching (could have been I do allow on demand) and I very rarely have this kind of issue so unless it starts to become very common I'll leave it as is.

    Well I HOPE that you would get a leaver's penalty even for disconnecting.

    Sorry it turned out HAMSTER in your case OP, but I wouldn't want people dodging the leaver's penalty by simply disconnecting

    if you disconnected out of a pvp match and re-entered it only to be kicked out and then penalized, please let us know. you should be able to re-enter the match without being penalized.

    I have already reported it as a bug. Sometimes (v. rarely, though lately too often, as it appears) some combination of keys just freezes my game, so that I need to end the game client process from task manager. Happened twice during pvp. First time I was able to quickly re-join party after game re-launched, the second time though I ended up automatically kicked out and with penalty. So there you go: two situations, game frozen, and after killing it from task manager one time I'm able to re-join the match and the other I end up with penalty. In such situation I don't know what to do. Leaving frozen screen for 15 minutes (it can take that long) is not too incentive.

    There is no grace period. I once DC'd for a full match (10 minutes or so) and re-entered in PE because the match was already over or the afk-mechanic kicked me. No penalty. So a DC right now never gets you penalized unless you experience the mentioned bug when trying to rejoin. Which in fact is the reason I never risk rejoining. I just let the match run out and play with another character instead.

    I can confirm that a DC does not result in a leavers penalty even if you never rejoin the match. On the other hand, using 'Switch Character' counts as leaving and gives the penalty to the character you switched from.

    I got disconnected yesterday as well, not just during matches but during GG events.. was just plain wierd, I got the leaver penatly as well.

    Others were complaining this morning. It wasnt my internet, I tested after the second drop, it was the game client dropping me, I would have to restart my machine to reenter, which of course took several minutes.

    This morning it seemed to be solved for me however, didnt do it once. Felt bad about the match I was in though, we were just a few points down, so Im sure they ended up loosing in the end.
