Either you can get four pieces of Black Ice armor and do the Epic Skirmish (it's a super-hard skirmish, not a dungeon) or you can have a regular old Epic Dungeon and not be able to get groups unless you're a CW/your guild takes pity on you.

Personally, I prefer the way the devs have designed it.

And what makes you think that the 4-pieces of BI gear will get you into groups? Same reason why one would go a full CW group applies to this new skirmish. Nothing to do with gear design.

It's an Epic Skirmish, not an Epic Dungeon. Of course you'll get into groups. All you have to do is press K.

You make no sense. You can also queue for dungeons with "K" and you can also not bother with K for a skirmish and go with a premade group. Skirmish or dungeon or whatever, people will still run it with optimal groups most of the time, especially since this new skirmish will be hard too.

I find that the entire new content design favors mixing it up with different classes. Also Black Ice gear is required due to the resistances to Black Ice Damage that will be experienced in the Skirmish. Quit hating....There is a lot to love about this new direction.

I'm not hating, I'd also love to see content that needs rainbow parties. But all I see so far is claims that this is the case with out any real information backing it up. /How/ exactly is that happening on the new content? What's different than the usual start-dps-finish formula? Again, the new gear has nothing to do with class balance. Each class has to be able to bring something special to the group. Right now dps classes have a huge advantage over the other classes, and looking at the changes it seems that a 5 CW group would be the best choice for /any/ pve content. So, please instead of just speculating and making claims explain to us why you think that is the case.

I am playing the content. The higher end HEs run so much smother with a mixture of classes. I assume that the skirmish will feel the same. As far as the hating comment, I apologize it was uncalled for. I just feel like a lot of the negative opinions here are from peeps not actually playing the content and / or not trying to be constructive in order to make a better gaming experience.

I haven't played much on the preview yet, but did a fair bit of testing still. I will try more HEs to see what you are talking about. And it's fine you didn't hurt my feelings :)

If this is the case, how are all these "suboptimal" toons so well geared? If you feel like you can't get into a group then do one of the following:

    Join legit channel
    Join guild
Press K and hope for the best

    OR START YOUR OWN GROUP!

Don't forget: you need to pay for gauntlets to refine more than 1300 black ice/day... This is going to be a long, tedious, slow farming.

Are those gauntlets exclusively available on the neverwinter website or will they be on the zen store?

I could just convert my AD to zen then. No need to spend a dime of real money

You get one basic white quality one for free , the green/blue and epic quality ones will come from the black ice profession packs.

I have to agree with niadan. Every classes debuffs and buffs are needed. The more of a mix you have the "less HARD" it becomes. Note I said "less HARD". They are by no means a pushover with a very mixed group, just easier, they are still tuned very well and people will have to work at them. Oh and the mobs in the HEs are like a dog with a bone, once you get AGGRO your stuck with it until either you kill it, you die, or you run far far away. And trust me you do not want even as little as 3 or 4 of these mobs hitting on you or chasing you if your the squishy type of any kind.

Some of the 3-5 can have waves of 20+ very hard hitting mobs at once and your on a timer. A short timer at that. Yes I have completed almost all of them in the time allowed on my HR. I think I am missing one but that is one of the 2 EPIC HE so not the same, just not seen it yet. Yes I have figured out a trick or two to help my poor AGGRO MAGNET RANGER to survive. Yes had to respec, yes I had to change my stat allocation, boons, and feats. I do not run around will less then 1 full stack of healing potions, since 2 of my potions slots are filled with 10 min random buffs, yes those random buffs are extremely helpful.

I want to find the company that makes healing potions and buy stock, I would get a very very healthy return on my AD investment

I am back to being able to solo with ALOT of effort the smallest of the HE, but honestly I welcome it anytime someone is passing by and joins in...usually by that point I have ALL AGGRO so they can go full DPS with no worries.

No they do not take coordination or grouping up, they DO TAKE players who can play, move, dodge, slide, evade, buff, heal, debuff, DPS, switch targets fast, follow extra instructions as they pop up in your quest window and so on. I hope you get the picture.

Believe me every class will be needed to get your black ice gear and to even have a chance to complete the Epic Skirmish. Cookie cutter builds are going the way of the dodo, as you need all the things I mentioned and more. Also the human behind the pixels needs to be skilled, or quite simply they will die. And honsetly these encounters have so much going on at once it will be near impossible to battle rez people. It can happen though.

If you do not follow those instructions the encounters become tougher..this so far has only been in the Epic Heroic encounters.
